leaking from the rectum? That's disgusting!

Like those Olestra potato chips from a few years ago: "Wonderful tasting
but a little oily leakage from the rectum is included..."

Oh yeah. I look forward to things like that!

Why do you think that any disgusting thing that happens to you also happens
to others?

1. It hasn't happened to me at all because I didn't try the product.
2.This "leakage" warning is included in ANY mention of the drugs.
3. Why do you think that the manufacturer or the FDC would put this warning
on the product if it hasn't happened to anybody? It must have happened to a
significant number of users---statistically significant, that is.

Read up on it!

Bull****. Some maybe, but certainly not all. My mother uses some that don't
have warnings of that nature. What drug causes this?

You still haven't done your homework!
Olestra
Xenical
Orlistat--marketed as Alli, a reduced strength form of Xenical
and who knows how many others?

Alli is the new one about to be on the market. It's been in the news all
week. Surely you've seen SOME mention of this!

We're talking about those drugs and formulas that are "supposed" to enable
people to lose weight. We're not talking about antibiotics or fungicides
here.

Now, go out and research your mother's DIET/FAT REDUCTION drugs and find out
what's in the small print.

My theory is this: "Dangerous" is highly correlated with "powerful" in
most people's minds, so a drug that can cause anal leakage (or
whatever) must be pretty powerful, and if other consumers are willing
to chance that side effect, the benefits must be worth a lot. (This
is also why drug awareness programs for kids are counter-productive
and idiotic.) So they get right out in front now about the powerfully
dangerous or dangerously powerful nature of their drugs, and as a side
benefit, it helps protect them from liability.

Hogwash. Any drug that is designed to minimize the absorbtion of Fat,
Carbs, etc. will have side effects. If the snake oil works as
advertised, where do you expect the extra to go?

Garbage in, garbage out.

One lawsuit and it will be off the market, just like many other
miracle diet drugs.
