View Full Version : HHH Week 3 - Laura P

Laura P
October 6th, 2003, 12:00 PM
Twice again for me this week. Again, 'only' walking, but I'm glad I've done
something.

I've just started university part time (3 afternoons a week) and as it's
built on a hill - in the valleys of South Wales, UK - I hope that walking up
and down the steps and slopes between buildings will help me get in a fair
amount 'unofficial' exercise and firm up the backside ;oD

Hope everyone is well and doing what they can to work towards their goals,

Laura

When I was at university in Durham, I walked everywhere! Anywhere you
go there is up hill both ways! You never saw a fitter lot than us walk
everywhere types! Pity it was 25 years ago! Now I have to rely on my
daily hyke to school and back to collect my son...

I think walking is a great exercise! Good job on exercising twice, Laura.

Twice is much better than nothing. Good for you for getting out and
doing it :-)

Way to go on going to varsity, what are you studying? And I'm sure all
that walking to and fro will do a great job of firming up your
backside.

I'm doing extremely well. I can't believe how good my head space is at
the moment. My usual downfalls aren't even appealing to me right now.

Hey Laura, don't knock walking. I've heard it's the easiest and most
effective exercises out there. :) Enjoy it!

It'll be nice if I could lose weight 'naturally' with all the walking! I
think by the new year a lot of the students will have shrunk, what with low
budgets and high buildings ;oD - unless of course alcohol creeps into the
equation... Luckily, I'm not much of a drinker, but still, the pubs have to
be visited sometimes ;o)

Thanks Connie. As long as I can keep up exercise at least twice a week for
now, I'll be happy.

Thanks Sonya. I think walking is one of my favourite ways to exercise and
fits in easily with life!

I'm studying combined Computing and Maths part time. Much as I'd love to do
something like psychology or criminology or any of the other interesting
subjects, I don't *do* essays! I'm quite technical, rather than creative.

Absolutely. As long as we can all do our best to improve.

Thanks Catherine. I'm happy with twice. And uni seems to be going quite
well so far - and I'm certainly not the only one older than 20 there! Ok,
so I'm only 23, but still... ;o)

Thanks Kristin. I do enjoy it and it's quite easy to fit in to normal life.

Are you enjoying it? I find studying is so much easier if you enjoy
the subject.

Thanks Laura. I'm trying. I've got some rewards lined up to keep me
motivated so that helps.

Yes, I think so! It's only been a week, but I know what the subject units
involve, and they look like my 'kind of thing'. ;o)

I've just put in another post about having a pair of jeans on display in my
room to keep me motivated - they do up and fit, but I'd like to lose just a
bit more weight before I wear them properly, so I use them to keep focused.
I think it can help to have clothes or other rewards to look forward to.

Glad to hear it. You'll have to keep us updated on how it's going.

I used to do that with things out of my closet. I've run out of old
clothes that are too small now so I've moved onto other things. I have
a reward lined up for my next mini goal that I've wanted for a very
long time. It's working great for keeping me motivated and will
hopefully keep me going afterwards too.
