Well folks I got it with a bang. Even with the new size 10 jeans on, I was
161, 3 pounds under goal and entered lifetime with a good jump on my
personal goal. Since there is a lady who remembers me from 1981, they gave
me credit for the whole shebang on my book, from 365 (my 1981 join weight),
instead of just the 86 pounds I lost this incarnation since Feb 2002. They
are really pushing me to write up a story for the magazine, I am thinking
that over. Anyway, I am kind of numb.

Wow Lesanne! You must be so proud of yourself, and rightly so. You are and
will continue to be wonderful inspiration to myself and others who are
relatively new to the weight loss game. It can be done and you are proof of
it! Glad you wore the jeans. I'm sure you looked fabulous in them. Bet
others thought so too! You'll have to post some more before/after pictures
for us soon...

I'm all out of words to express how thrilled I am for you. What a
journey you've had to get to this point. And now you start another
one: lifelong maintenance (after reaching your personal goal). I can
totally relate to the tears you described in another post.

Enjoy your stay on Cloud Nine!

Thats BRILLIANT Lesanne. 365 to 161 is fabulous. Congratulations.

You really must write an article. You can insprire loads of people.
Let them know that it IS possible to get back to a reasonable weight.
I didn't believe I could lose all that weight when I started and I
know others who think the same. You can prove them wrong.

I had a story done on me in prevention mag. years ago when I lost the first
big chunk in the 80's. I had gone from the 365 to 180 something then got
stuck and went back up into the 200's later and yoed around there until I
joined WW again in Feb 2002. The thing is, when that story came out, in Jan
1990 prevention, I was deluged with requests from supermarket tabloids, etc.
to use it.

And my pictures that I sent got lost forever (although eventually they did
return one of them all chopped up) Lots of stuff. Not to mention I will
have to write all that down, and I bet they don't pay for it. Not that it
would matter, but I just don't know. It was not Just WW that caused me to
finally succeed at this, although they certainly played a part. I just
don't know if I can deal with that again if it causes an uproar. I am
actually a pretty private person.

I think the whole publicity thing is scary. Online, you're assured of
some anonymity, after all.

Do what you are comfortable with. I know that you are an inspiration
to many - you certainly are to me. But you're doing this for you, not
the rest of the world :)

Hugs,
Kimba

Have you been on lurking status? I noticed a few weeks ago that you'd
posted you were taking a break. And then today, I saw your
congratulatory post to Lesanne.

So how are you? I think of you often and wonder how you are doing.
Would it be OK if I e-mailed you?

Hi Linda, yes, I have been lurking, but wanted to congratulate Lesanne.

I'm fine, but I needed a break, not from WW, but the huge emphasis that
I felt I had placed on numbers, and I'm having a very hard time dealing
with people's attitudes towards me since I've lost weight.

I've been seeing my counsellor, who started out as my grief counsellor
so he knows me very well, and he's been helping me learn, and put into
practice, copings skills.

Just as you think you're going to be all right, something else happens.
Yesterday I learned I was nominated for, and won, the City Manager's
award for individual service excellence, which is a great honour, but
all I can think about is that on Tuesday I have to attend a cocktail
party and accept in front of 500+ City workers. My boss says I have to
go. Not only that, but for the next year my picture is going to be
displayed on a huge lighed board in the atrium of City Hall. The only
good thing is that the picutres of the team award winners will also be
on display, so maybe I won't be noticed, but could it get any
worse?????? If I ever find out who nominated me..........

Feel free to email me, I'd love to "chat" to you, I feel you may be able
to understand how I'm feeling.

Thank you for taking the time to show you care. It's greatly
appreciated.

Linda

Oh I'm so glad to know you're OK. It's too late this evening for me to
write with any intelligence, but I'll definitely write to you this
weekend.

My dept at work celebrates birthdays and today was the day to
celebrate mine. (I'll be 50 on Saturday.) I tried all day to get out
of being the center of attention for those 15 minutes, begging off
with meetings, or phone calls, and finally just saying "I don't want
to." Even that didn't work because I'd be spoiling "a little
surprise." Turns out that the group also wanted to celebrate Boss's
Day a week early since I'll be out of the office on vacation next
Thursday, 10/16. It was a double-whammy! I know I was supposed to feel
flattered and appreciated by all that attention. And it's not that I
don't like the people I work with or supervise. Actually, they're the
greatest. I just can't explain that now I really need my vacation.

Yeah, Linda, I think I know how you're feeling.

Ooer! Have people been snippy, or positive? Sometime the praise can be
overwhelming. if it's snippy, put it down to jealousy.

Well congratulations on the award, and on being so well thought of at
work that you were nominated. The exposure? Bleah! If you are a shy
type, or have body image issues (like a lot of us on this journey), the
exposure can feel dangerous.

Best of luck for the future.
