I was remembering the movie "Defending Your Life" with Albert Brooks and
Meryl Streep. They had a scene where they could eat ANYTHING they wanted
and it was all for the taking and they would NOT gain one ounce of
weight.
What would be your dream food(s)?
Mine would be an enchilada dinner with rice and refried beans with home
made tortillas and a porter house steak with a huge loaded baked potato
and for dessert and huge peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream and hot
carrot cake with cream cheese icing. <sigh>
Lasagna, I can't forget the lasagna!
Let's hear yours.

Missing lasagna? You are doing it all wrong.

I had lasagna the other night at a nice Italian restaurant. Ate half and
brought the rest home for hubby's lunch the next day. My left overs were the
chicken from my daughter's Chicken Alfredo. Had some of the noodles too.

Oh, and last night was the Chinese buffet. Used all of my remaining flex
points for the week (which ends today) but it was worth it.

Again, you are doing it the wrong way.

What would stop you from having that now? Isn't that what flex points are

This post made me so grateful. My head immediately went to how Blissfully
joyful it is for me to place my hands on my hips and feel muscle and bone.
And know that I got here eating enchiladas with rice and refried beans in
sensible moderate portions... the only difference being that I left the
table feeling barely satisfied and energized as opposed to crawling away in
a logy fat induced coma like state. I have no "dream" foods, because if I
want something I have a little of it. If I want a lot, I just "bargain"
with myself and say "hey, I will eat ONE Sees candy today, and if I still
want more tomorrow, I got it!" This from the girl who has most of the pound
of candy she bought in Houston in August, safe in the freezer. This brings
to mind something I have been thinking about a lot, look for the thread

Hi Bobby,

I loved that movie.

As to the dream foods, I have to agree with the others about eating all the
stuff now so that you don't feel deprived.

However, my dream would be to want to eat well, and healthily, to exercise
because I really wanted to and not so that I can eat a little more, and to
still lose now and maintain later, without having to obsess about counting
food points or activity points all the time. Hopefully, somewhere along the
way, I may get to a point where it all just clicks in, without too much
mental math all the time.

Best of luck on your weight loss journey...and do have some lasagna along
the way.

Carol

A truly HUMONGOUSE slice of my son's birthday cake! We made it together
last night, so he could take it to school today. Chocolate madeira cake
with cherries in, covered with marzipan and white and dark chocolate...
Oh, how I wish I could be there for a slice this afternoon!

Recipe and pix of him making it on my web site (url below) in Kate's

I do so agree - but there are some things I HAVE to avoid because of the
gall bladder. Hence my wish for a slice of my son's cake! Even on WW I
would normally budget for a small slice and be perfectly happy. It's
just that this is one of the things I KNOW will cause me real pain, so
the longing is there for the carefree days of a HUGE slice!

The cobbler sounds divine actually. I've been craving cobbler. I wonder
if anyone has any low point ideas for that?

I guess my post might have been taken a bit out of context. I intended
it to be like in the movies. Sorry if it's not politically correct to
assume no one wants to even "dream" of being able to eat selfishly and
not have to worry about weight which is what the movie scene was about.
I understand for lots of people it is a real battle to be disciplined
even on the WW diet. As I have said in my introduction, I'm not on the
WW diet but am doing it the old fashioned way of cutting down 99% on
fried foods and sweets like ice cream. This is something I have passed
the feeling of depriving myself since I believe you CAN reprogram your
mind to be able to leave them and honestly feel like you're not missing
out on something good. I guess I look at it also like an alcoholic has
to leave drinking and his/her body will adjust and not feel like they
been missing out on something necessary since they've already experience
they taste and fill of it. I've had ALL the good foods and do NOT miss
them , but this is ME. I can do without them and be OK.
I have lost 42 pounds. Gone from a size 44 inch waist to a 36 inch waist
and gained muscle where I never even thought I had them so I think I'm
doing it right.

Sigh.

Nothin' changes if nothin' changes.

If this is a healthful way of living, then the whole concept of
"cheating" needs to go.

There are no foods that are OffP - I can have anything I want - I just
can't have everything I want.

I've had enchiladas and been OP. I've had steak and been OP. I've
had some yummy desserts and been OP. I've had lasagna and been OP.
I've even had pizza, my personal red light food, and been OP.

The problem, dear Horatio, lies not in the food, but in ourselves.

The solution lies there, too.

Look for fine granulated sugar. Ordinary will do just as well if you
can't find it, for both the cake and the marzipan.

Peel and slice your fruit, place in an individual pyrex dish.
Sprinkle with Spenda and some spices - cinnamon and nutmeg for apple,
nutmeg and ginger for peaches. Pull apart a low fat biscuit (you know
- the Pillsbury kind in the can) and place it over the top. Spray
with a bit of ICBINB spray, sprinkle a teaspoon of sugar over the top,
and bake til the biscuit is brown.

Or, do the filling the same way, nuke it til cooked, and fold into a
one point tortilla. Sprinkle with sugar after giving it a squirt of
ICBINB and stick it in the toaster oven to crisp the tortilla.

Ah Bobby, it's not that it is not politically incorrect to dream about foods
we can't have, but on WW, we Can have em, if we choose to, so it tends to be
puzzling. I lost all 85 that I got rid of since Feb 2002, and the other 118
on WW, for a total WW loss of 203 pounds. The 118 was on the old program
that restricted the types of food you ate. I really love the new program,
and probably would never have gotten to the normal BMI that I am at right
now without being able to have all those good foods when I want em, portion
controlled.

I agree about the new WW - I love it. As I've mentioned before, I was on WW
back in the early 70's. You couldn't eat onions or corn past the noon meal.
One of the ladies in our group made home made bread. The leader told her
she absolutely 'could not' eat that home made bread. She had to buy the
diet bread. I know there were other things just as ridiculous, I just don't
remember all of them now. Oh yeah, I could eat 4 hot dogs for supper! Not
the buns, just the dogs! Wouldn't think of doing that now.

One thing I really did like on the old WW was the WW shakes - we call them
smoothies now. That was my favorite part of the day - evening when I could
have that shake!
