View Full Version : Ick!

First of all, I'm sorry that I haven't been as active here as I'd like
the last little while. First out of town, then back for a few days
and now in Edmonton with the fiance! Which is there the "ick" part
comes in!

For a man that has so little in the way of "stuff", it's amazing how
disorganized this place is. He has one dresser that's so full the
drawers can't close and the shirts are hanging out of it. The Foreman
grill I don't think has been cleaned in months - I've spent an hour
cleaning and soaking it so far and it's still not usable yet!

Wish me luck - this afternoon I tackle the bathroom!! And tomorrow we
continue the search for decent furniture.

I think that DF is going to be very surprised when he comes home and
discovers that:
- his cream appliances are actually white
- the tiles in the shower aren't really supposed to have that textured
look
- Teflon pans don't need "seasoning"

And the day isn't over yet!

Good luck cleaning up the place. I remember when I was moving in here. Oh
my god, it was so disgusting. Couldn't see the floor, counters, table...
Everything that was flat was piled with stuff. The place has two bedrooms
and a laundry room. One of the bedrooms and the laundry room were so full
of junk (DH is a collector of all kinds of things) that the doors would only
open far enough to get your head in! Anyway, I'm sure the spiders and other
"bugs" figured this was their home for life! It took me two weeks to clean
it (with help from my Grandmother) before I could move in!

Sounds like you are earning some exercise points, Amberle! Some men definitely
have a different definition of clean than we do. Good luck with the bathroom!

Right now we're kind of at an impasse - he lives in one city, I live
in another, and neither wants to move. So we're doing the visiting
thing, which is easier for me since I'm self-employed.

Mind you we've never lived in the same city, so it's not as though
this is unsual for us!!

Cleaning went relatively well. Went out a bought an actual small
dining table and chairs last night because I was just tired of sitting
on the couch eating from the coffee table. It's a very nice table,
got the floor model so it was about 30% off. DF did manage to drop it
getting it out of the car so a corner has some damage to it, but it's
relatively minor and we've put that against a wall so it's not very
visible. He also dropped some of his dinner (Mexican Skillet) on the
fabric chair, which is now stained. Off to Walmart tonight to pick
up some stain cleaner!

BTW for anyone interested, Mexican Skillet doesn't cook all that well
in a wok. Well it cooks fine, but it doesn't simmer well.
Unfortunately all the skillets DF has are small.
