Default Easter Dinner Question

Looks like this Easter it will be just be the two of us. I bought a small
turkey and some fresh asparagus. Now all I need to know is what's the best
way to cook fresh asparagus?

I also picked up two bottles of the Carb Well salad dressing and two bottles
of the Carb Well bbq sauce. I'll let y'all know how they are. They were on
sale at Winn Dixie. .99 for the bbq sauce and $1.99 for the dressings, I
picked up caesar and blue cheese.

Looks like Easter dinner will be turkey, asparagus and a nice big salad!
Anyone know how long it will take to thaw a 11 pound bird?

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

No Easter candy here this year. Bought hubby some jelly beans, dried
apricots and a big package of mixed nuts! LOL

Jelly beans aren't candy?

No wonder you're fat.

Excuse me O Pain in the Butt. I should have said no chocolate CANDY here
this year. Actually I'm pretty proud of myself in not buying MUCH candy. I
remember saying no to the goodies in last year's Easter basket and starting
my new way of eating. I might be fat now but in another year you won't be
able to sling that in my face.

I actually should thank you JC, you always give me motivation to prove you
wrong.

Yes jelly beans ARE candy.

My *favorite* way is to toss 'em in olive oil and grill them. But
that's probably not practical given the rest of your menu.

Cut off the really woody ends and steam them, just until they get
tender. Don't overcook them, though, because they'll get mushy.

Looks like Easter dinner will be turkey, asparagus and a nice big salad!

It depends on how you do it -- the most efficient way is to put it in
the sink under a constant stream of water. It'll thaw faster that way
than either in the fridge (which takes forever) or at room temperature
(which takes a looooong time.)

Thanks Dawn! I'm going to try them on the grill! It's times like these
that I miss my mom. I'd call her at least a dozen times a year asking
cooking questions!

Thanks again, have a nice holiday!

Default Easter Dinner Question

Yumm, asparagus. Now there is something yummy that I havnt eaten for a
while. Thank you for that reminder. Although now I am thinking about how
many dried apricots I can get in my mouth at once, hmm covered in chocolate.

Sorry, I'll stop.

My favorite way is to break off the ends then peel the bottom half of
the stalk. Put them in a small roasting pan, and drizzle them with
olive oil and salt. Bake uncovered at 350 for 10-15 minutes, just until
they're beginning to get flexible, but not mushy. Easy and good.

Thanks Rebecca, that sounds good too! I could just put them in while we get
the turkey carved and served.

They're also good made that way, but with Italian salad dressing instead of
olive oil. If you overcook them and they're mushy, eat 'em anyway, they're
still good, I think.
