My vote for the best post of the year! *Everyone
should watch this video.

He also has a couple of articles on iodine. This is a link to one of
them
where he talks about using much larger quanities of iodine than the
rda. One of his other articles on this says it is verry good for
diabetics.

Most of the article is about taking potassium iodide after any nuclear
incident. Of course there was a run on it after Fukashima. Now that
it's been several months I should check for it the next time I'm at the
supplement specialty store.

One thing of interest to me. I've been on low dosage generic synthroid
for decades. I wonder if iodine supplementation would allow me to taper
off and stop my dosage? I will try to remember to discuss that with my
doctor the next time I have an appointment. Given the choice between a
supplement and a perscription medication the answer is a slam dunk if
the supplement will actually do that. I have no idea if it will.

Synthroid is one drug that you REALLY want to take branded, not generic,
from all reports. *There are a lot of others, since quality has gotten
so bad for generics, but Synthroid has always been one where generics
are well known not to do the job.

I've been on the generic since the late 1980s. I get that some have
problems with it. I get blood tests annually and my dosage has been
stable since about 1990. No symptoms since a few weeks after I
started taking the pills. For me it works just fine and always has.
I
have no idea if the reports are nonsense or if I'm an exception to the
trend.

If you need to keep taking it.

If iodine supplements would allow me to stop taking them, I'm for it.
Not a decision that I would make on my own. I'll discuss with the doc
in a few months when I have my regular check up.
