Help! Bloating?
This has never happened to me! My belly is all swollen up, mostly above
the navel, it looks like pregnancy. Some pain and twitching under the left ribcage. Very little bowel movement, no feeling of anything in the lower colon. Upper colon area feeling of being stretched inside. Not much gas, it's like it was full of gel ('soluable fiber'?). Been painful for a couple of days. Lately I was experimenting carbing up and using a lot of protein powder and some odd bulk things. But it kind of started when I first began low carbing, in March. Then I was using only very natural raw organic stuff: raw veg, yogurt. Felt some stretching, gained some inches in the waist, but figured that was because I was having to process more bulk to get the energy I used to get from carbs, so it was worth it. It brought my BMI from borderline underweight to more normal. Tho a little uncomfortable, no big problem and all sorts of other digestive problems cleared up! No gas, no irritable bowel, etc. But now it's like there was a blockage somewhere between the stomach and and the navel and I'm having to eat very small amounts, mostly liquid, and nothing is getting out the bottom. Took some olive oil capsules, also some herb tea (mostly camomile and mint). Helped some but not much. Skinny |

I'd be getting my bloated ass (belly, whatever) to a doctor ASAP if I
were you. Regards, Deb 260/211/135 Skinny wrote: This has never happened to me! My belly is all swollen up, mostly above the navel, it looks like pregnancy. Help! Bloating?
It sounds as if your stomach is not emptying properly.
This might explain why you've had inconsistent results with various foods and blood sugar control. Bernstein has a chapter on this in his book. |

My impression is that something below the stomach is full and will not accept much more. Not necessarily. What it would produce would be glucose spikes many hours after eating when your stomach actually emptied; i.e., erratic meter readings that don't correlate logically to meals. It would also result in a feeling of fullness at some meals. Not being able to eat much and such. I don't *know* that you have delayed stomach emptying, I just refered you to Bernstein cause he discusses the problem, including diagnosis, how to get blood glucose under control with it, etc. But I agree with the poster who said you should get to a doctor ASAP. A blocked GI system is not something to mess around with, regardless of the cause. It needs fixing ASAP. I'd avoid fiber until you get this straightened out too... -- As you accelerate your food, it takes exponentially more and more energy to increase its velocity, until you hit a limit at C. This energy has to come from somewhere; in this case, from the food's nutritional value. Thus, the faster the food is, the worse it gets. -- Mark Hughes, comprehending the taste of fast food |

Paraphrasing 'cause I don't have the books here with me, "multiple exclamation points - the sure sign of a disturbed mind." Bearing this in mind, some usenet posts make much more sense. It sounds like something that everyone should learn about. g True, Martha -- Begin where you are - but don't end there. |
