But organic is not the same as low carb - although baking
could be both.

I looked at the site, and it doesn't look low-carb. It does, however, have
gluten-free products, which is GREAT for someone with celiac like me. Of
course, that stuff can be just as carby.

Gosh, when Spike says heartfelt, sincere things like that -- things

are crazy about him, doesn't it?

It's got a low-carb section, but it's all mixes.

Bummer, they changed their web site and I didn't check before sending the
link. They do have a very good selection of low carb bread, buns, pizza
crust, bread crumbs, etc. I'm very surprised that they are no longer listed
on the web site. Their products are available at the Diabetic Depot
(http://diabeticdepot.com/s/cat11_1.htm) and supposedly at the Calgary
Co-Op, but I've never seen them there.

Sorry, from what other people have said, I should have
looked a little closer - this is a great resource!

Sorry to have been so huffy. Thanks for the links!

Never took your comment as 'huffy' at all. Hmmm, maybe another benefit of
low carb is thicker skin ... :-)

Just came from one of our local bakeries which has jumped on the LC
bandwagon with a vengance. They have a dedicated LC baker who buys the
necessary LC raw products and only cooks LC stuff. When I met with her,

she
complained that her prices were high, but they just reflected the costs

she
has to deal with in purchasing the LC stuff. I don't really care about

the
prices - I'll just buy less or what I can afford, but to have the

selection
she has come up with is great.
They are currently making 4 types of bread - flax, sunflower, plain and
cinnamon. Three types of buns including hot dog and hamburger. Pizza
shells, pita shells, cheese sticks. And as of today - desserts -

macaroons,
almond cookies, bran/flax muffins and chocolate brownies.

I'm in heaven - I just hope enough people keep buying so that they stay in
the market.

If this can happen in our small town, it's happening everywhere!

The stuff really is low carb. The new owner of the bakery is diabetic and
has done his research. I have to admit I only have the sunflower seed bread
label in front of me and it is less than 3.5 per slice. Major ingredient is
soya flour. As I remember the buns range from 3 carbs to 5.5 carbs
dependent on size. The almond cookies were 5 (?) and the macaroons 2.5. I
havea tried two other bakeries and their so called bread and been quite
disappointed. Expensive and tasteless. But this stuff is so good that my
non LC husband will quite happily use it.

They are also making up a special order for me this weekend so I can take a
bunch of their stuff to friends in Victoria.

I'm only buying the buns etc on the weekends but am using the bread every
day. His next step is pita bread and pizza shells.

FYI, I am in Courtenay on Vancouver Island, B.C. and bakery is a Bunsmaster.

Brenda W
