Default Milkshake/Slushie recipe

Hey everyone -
I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow, and need good recipes for
slushies/milkshakes. For the milkshake, I tried putting 1 cup of Breyer's
Vanilla with 5/8 cup Carb Countdown milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar, but the
consistency was wrong... not thick like a milkshake should be... even after
putting it in the freezer for a bit. I thought the taste was too vanilla-y,
too.

I know a slushie would be made from sugar-free Torani and DaVinci. Can I find
these at the local grocery store? How much portions do you use of ice and
syrup for say, an 8 oz glass?

Let me know what works for you guys.

Default Milkshake/Slushie recipe

Buy some protein shakes and make it easy on yourself. Also, make sure
not to drink through a straw while you're healing. BTW, when my hubby
had his teeth pulled, the dentist told him to intensify his calories for
a few days to promote healing. Lots of soft boiled eggs with butter
melted in them and things like that. Good luck.

What's your problem? I've lost 40 lbs in the past 3.5 months on Atkins, so
don't question my position.

When you have your wisdom teeth removed, you can't eat solids - not that I have
to justify myself to you.

Why do you even bother posting if you have nothing useful to say? Before you
open your mouth and make a jerk out of yourself, make sure you know the facts.

3 tablespoons Challenge 95 vanilla or chocolate protein powder (0g)
1/2 cup. Lucerne or Vitamilk cottage cheese (4g)
1/4 cup Vitamilk heavy whipping cream (1.65g)
3/4 cup liquid. either crystal light or water
6-8 ice cubes

Blend
---------------

1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1/4 cup Healthy N Fit 0-carb egg protein powder
(vanilla flavor, but all the ingredients read is "vanilla flavoring" - no
sweetener)
1/2 cup water
3-4 ice cubes
1/2 tsp vanilla (or other extract depending on flavor of shake)
2 rounded tsp sugar-free instant pudding powder, flavor of choice
sweetener to taste, if desired

Combine all ingredients except ice cubes in blender and blend until mixed.
Add ice cubes and blend for a couple more minutes. Pour into glass and
enjoy.

Here is a shake I used to use after my workouts in the gym or football
field. I still use it now on my Atkins/PP hybrid diet. Tastes good and
good for you :-)

2 scoops chocolate Designer Protein (whey protein)
1 scoop of N-R-G protein powder (soy, casein, whey, egg proteins)
1 whole egg
2 tablespoons macadamia nut oil (mmm mmm good)
2 packets of Equal
1/2 cup of half and half
2 cups of water
4-5 ice cubes

I find this shake a treat and use it as desert most of the time. Most other
shakes I have to force down. Hope this helps you out some.

Mix in the blender. You can add ice if using fresh fruit.

The Frugal Gazette Diet Drink

7 Tbsp powdered egg white
4 Tbsp regular flavor, smooth texture Metamucil with no sugar or
sweeteners
20 pkts diet sweetener
1 cup plus 2 Tbsp nonfat dry milk

For flavor, ONE of the following:
4 Tbsp powdered unsweetened cocoa
6 tsp vanilla extract
1 pkg powdered unsweetened drink mix ("Kool-Aid"), strawberry or
raspberry

1. Dry Mix: place egg whites, Metamucil, sweetener and dry milk into
a bowl. Thoroughly mix all ingredients. Add the desire flavoring and
store in a sealed container at room termperature. (If using vanilla
extract, stir until evenly distributed and allow to dry in open
container for 2-4 hrs)

2. To Reconstitute Drink Mix: Add 3 Tbsp of dry drink mix to 1 1/2
cups cold 1% or skim milk. For best results, use a blender, food
processor or shake vigorously in closed container.

Lastly, my own protein shakes, kind of high in carb for people on
Induction levels, but fine if you're in the 40g/day area

I use Breakstone cottage cheese, because a lot of others taste
salty or sour.

Protein base for all:
(about 28g protein, 5g carb)
1/2 cup cottage cheese
(rinsed in a strainer, if it has a sour taste)
1/2 cup pasteurized egg whites
(egg substitute -- Second Nature Eggs, has no onion
or garlic like Egg Beaters do, check labels )

My current favorite, Peach Melba:
4 oz. (by weight) frozen sliced unsweetened peaches (about 6g carb)
dash of DaVinci SF raspberry syrup
2 or 3 packets sweetener (or a little more DaVinci and save a
couple of carbs)
1 cup water
dash of cream, optional

berries: 1/3 cup frozen unsweetened blueberries
or 4 oz frozen unsweetened strawberries (about 6g carb)
2 or 3 packets sweetener
dash of vanilla extract (about 1/2 tsp)
1 cup water
dash of heavy cream, optional

chocolate: 1 tsp chocolate extract, or 1 heaping tsp cocoa
2 or 3 packets sweetener
about 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
few tablespoons heavy cream
1/2 cup water
6 ice cubes

Default Milkshake/Slushie recipe

I had all 4 out at the same time a few years ago, about an hour after coming
around I ate scrambled eggs. Why bother with slushies or whatever, you have
a blender - mash up proper LC food instead.

Make sure you don't have anything below or above body temp as that will
really
hurt - I passed out after drinking some water that was a little too cold.

Use a mouthwash a few times a day, eat good nutitious food and you'll be
fine
in a few days.

the clots in the sockets. :-)

I've had wisdom teeth out, had osseous surgery and an implant placed. Tofu
works fine, as does chicken cut up into small pieces. After the osseous
surgery, I ended up having cheerios for about a day as I was quite
nauseated and they were the only things that would stay down. I chewed
carefully, and it wasn't a problem. After that I realized that I can only
take percocet for two days straight before my stomach rebels.

If you want to baby yourself during this period that's fine, but there's
no reason why you *have* to have foods with the exact texture or taste of
milkshakes or smoothies in order to recover. I'd avoid anything too hot or
too cold, anything with little bits that could get caught in the
extraction sites and anything that requires significant chewing, or that
you ingest through a straw and I might go up to maintenance levels of
carbs for a few days.

Well, I have to say that I was a bit struck in your initial post about how
you were adding sugar to your shakes in order to duplicate some exact
taste/mouth feel. Recovering from extractions should be about letting your
body heal, not focusing on creating the perfect milkshake.
