Obese man freed from apartment
Obese man freed from apartment
24Mar04 A CHERRY picker has been used to remove an obese man trapped in his third-floor inner Sydney apartment and take him to hospital. Ambulance officers were called to the Waterloo apartment this evening to assist the critically ill man, an ambulance spokeswoman said. In a joint effort, officers from three emergency services worked for several hours to free the man, who reportedly weighed more than 300kg. Radio reports said a cherry picker was used to lift the man out of the apartment and into a truck-style ambulance. "Multi ambulance resources were dispatched to a unit block in Waterloo this evening to a seriously ill man," an ambulance spokeswoman said. "It was a long and difficult extrication which included the resources of ambulance, police and fire brigade to get him out." The man, believed to be 30 years old, was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition. It was not immediately known what he was suffering from. This report appears on NEWS.com.au. |

This report appears on NEWS.com.au. Man moved by cherry picker dies March 25, 2004 A CRITICALLY ill obese man who had to be removed by a cherry picker from his third-floor Sydney apartment has died. Andrew Raymond, in his 30s and weighing about 300kg, died at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. She did not know when he died. Mr Raymond was taken to the hospital in a truck-style ambulance after he was extracted from his flat at inner-Sydney Waterloo about 9pm (AEDT) yesterday. NSW Fire Brigade spokesman Michael Morris said up to 10 firefighters had worked with police and ambulance officers for at least two hours last night to free him. Mr Morris said the circumstances of the rescue, which included using a cherry picker, were "out of the ordinary". AAP +++ There is a God! Buffy |

That'd be perfect for tower work (the DH and I and many of our friends are ham radio geeks). Take care, Carmen |

I have to tuck the Bobcat away as it is :-) I've considered buying a bucket truck, but I can do most of what I need to do with frame scaffolding or pumpjacks. |
