Chia Seeds
Anyone try them? A 3 tablespoon serving has only 2 net carbs (12g
fiber). They are reportedly high in omega-3s, and are supposed to be easier to digest than flax seed. I use them in the morning mixed with a bit of Fiber One and some berries with almond milk and a splash (or two or three) of heavy cream. Today for the first time I tried them hot by sticking straight chia seeds with the almond milk/cream in the microwave. Satisfying as any oatmeal I've ever had! They do swell up with the addition of liquid and tend to clump if you don't mix them well. The mixture can get quite thick so use more liquid than seems right. I've thrown them in pancake batter made with Carbalose, sprinkled them on salad, etc. BTW: Keep dental floss handy. -- Bill "Wise Fool" -- Gandalf, _The Two Towers_ (The Wise will remove 'se' to reach me.
