2. The negative and ignorant attitude that some people still have toward

a
low carb lifestyle

Yup, it's not only annoying, but it's kind of like people always attacking
you for a choice that you KNOW is better for you.
This is why, all along, I haven't told people I do low carb. I simply say
that I've cut out anything with sugar, corn syrup, or white flour in the
ingrediants.

I learned very quickly to adopt this way of describing how I lost weight.
After I gave the whole speil of "cutting out sugar, potatoes, pastas, flour
and eating more vegetables" if someone said, "oh Atkins" then I would say
yes, otherwise I would just leave it at the description. Of course I made
the mistake of telling some people I am doing Atkins and I got the whole bit
about how it was unhealthy and I was going to end up with kidney problems.
I immediately switched what I said when anyone would ask. I am not ashamed
of living the Atkins lifestyle, I just don't want to bother with ignorant
people.

4. A few evenings I have experienced leg cramps

In addition to my multi-vitamin, I take a calcium/magnesium/zinc

supplement
(as someone here suggested to me when I complained of leg cramps). That

has
completely eliminated my cramps.

I will have to look into this. I have not had the legs cramps very often,
but it is annoying when I do get them since I never had them pre-LC. I'm
reading the chapter on vitanutrients in DANDR now so I'm going to try to see
how I can tweak my supplement intake. Right now I take a One A Day
CarbSmart multivitamin and that's all.

Great post. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Spring, for all of your great posts!

I just thought I would list a few highlights in my life that I have

noticed
since going low carb. Of course most of you have already gone through

this
and posted yours already, but I figure its always nice for people just
starting to see what is possible over time, of course YMMV.

1. I can now excersize for more than 45 minutes without feeling like I am
going to die
2. I have discovered a whole new section in the grocery store, its called
the produce section
3. I always have energy and no longer want a nap in the afternoon
4. I no longer lose clumps of hair in the shower
5. I can shop in the Misses section in the clothing store (been over 10
years)
6. I now know that I have a weight problem and there is a way to correct

it,
I lived in denial about my weight for a decade
7. I can now donate my clothes because they are too big, not because I

can't
squeeze into them
8. I now have a normal menstrual cycle (first time since 1984) without
taking something to regulate it
9. I know this is a lifestyle change I will be able to maintain
10. I save so much money by not eating out once or twice a day

Of course there are other things, this is just what popped into my head at
the moment.

And some of the less pleasant aspects of a life change:

1. The induction headache is hell, pure hell
2. The negative and ignorant attitude that some people still have toward a
low carb lifestyle
3. The fact that all of the clothes in my closet are too big, including

the
jeans and shorts I purchased just a few months ago
Ok, that last one isn't that bad, it just sucks to have to buy more

clothes
after just buying more clothes.
4. A few evenings I have experienced leg cramps
5. While nuts and cheese are allowed they are a no no for me until I can
regulate the amount I can eat in one sitting

So as far as I'm concerned the positives definitely outweigh the negative.

Take care,

Honey, I spent the whole night last night dancing with women who were up to
fifteen years younger than me. I wore them all out.

I never used to have that energy. Got it now!

Then we can dance for an hour or two, have a good time, and laugh at the
kids who lose breath over a few minutes on the floor?

2. I have discovered a whole new section in the grocery store, its called

Good food, not that expensive, and maybe takes more time to cook, but oh
well.

We need to take that shower together to find the problem, there. LOL!

6. I now know that I have a weight problem and there is a way to correct

Yes.

You are a normal human being who has found a good way of life. Welcome
back.

9. I know this is a lifestyle change I will be able to maintain
10. I save so much money by not eating out once or twice a day

It varies from person to person.

3. The fact that all of the clothes in my closet are too big, including

the
jeans and shorts I purchased just a few months ago

All my clothes hang on me like a comedy rack now, and I won't buy new ones
until I get to my target weight.

4. A few evenings I have experienced leg cramps

Potassium. Take some vitamins to correct that.

I know you won't give up. Welcome back to the world!

Have you considered shopping at GoodWill, Salvation

Speaking of GoodWill...I've discovered clothing consignment shops
recently and I'm really addicted now. I like to do a weekly check of
my favorite ones now. And when you find something really nice it's
like winning at a casino lol
