Improvements since going low carb
I just thought I would list a few highlights in my life that I have noticed
since going low carb. Of course most of you have already gone through this and posted yours already, but I figure its always nice for people just starting to see what is possible over time, of course YMMV. 1. I can now excersize for more than 45 minutes without feeling like I am going to die 2. I have discovered a whole new section in the grocery store, its called the produce section 3. I always have energy and no longer want a nap in the afternoon 4. I no longer lose clumps of hair in the shower 5. I can shop in the Misses section in the clothing store (been over 10 years) 6. I now know that I have a weight problem and there is a way to correct it, I lived in denial about my weight for a decade 7. I can now donate my clothes because they are too big, not because I can't squeeze into them 8. I now have a normal menstrual cycle (first time since 1984) without taking something to regulate it 9. I know this is a lifestyle change I will be able to maintain 10. I save so much money by not eating out once or twice a day Of course there are other things, this is just what popped into my head at the moment. And some of the less pleasant aspects of a life change: 1. The induction headache is hell, pure hell 2. The negative and ignorant attitude that some people still have toward a low carb lifestyle 3. The fact that all of the clothes in my closet are too big, including the jeans and shorts I purchased just a few months ago Ok, that last one isn't that bad, it just sucks to have to buy more clothes after just buying more clothes. 4. A few evenings I have experienced leg cramps 5. While nuts and cheese are allowed they are a no no for me until I can regulate the amount I can eat in one sitting So as far as I'm concerned the positives definitely outweigh the negative. Your remark about your clothes being too big sounded familiar. I'm having
the same problem. Have you considered shopping at GoodWill, Salvation Army, etc.? You have to look, but you can probably find clothing to fit you for next to nothing. Plus, you can help them out by taking in your old stuff. I've been lucky to be receiving hand-me-downs from my SIL, and I've also visited the GoodWill store and found jeans and shirts. Frankly, I'm trying to refrain from buying any NEW clothes until I get to my goal. -- Linda 296/199/160 LC since Oct. 13, 2003 http://home.att.net/~lewis_linda/index.html "moonprincess" wrote in message ... 3. I always have energy and no longer want a nap in the afternoon
This one has been a huge difference for me. It's so nice being able to be alert and awake for the entire day without going through the slumps I used to experience. 5. I can shop in the Misses section in the clothing store (been over 10 years) I can only fit some things there... eagerly looking forward to the time when I won't need to check both sections to find what I need. 8. I now have a normal menstrual cycle (first time since 1984) without taking something to regulate it Me too! 2. The negative and ignorant attitude that some people still have toward a low carb lifestyle Yup, it's not only annoying, but it's kind of like people always attacking you for a choice that you KNOW is better for you. This is why, all along, I haven't told people I do low carb. I simply say that I've cut out anything with sugar, corn syrup, or white flour in the ingrediants. 3. The fact that all of the clothes in my closet are too big, including the jeans and shorts I purchased just a few months ago Ok, that last one isn't that bad, it just sucks to have to buy more clothes after just buying more clothes. Yes, it does indeed suck. I've lost 12 inches in my waist alone... have been through quite a few sizes. It's hard to keep finding new things appropriate to wear to my work. I've got a difficult figure to fit, even with the weight loss. Actually, when I was at my ideal weight in the pass, it was still difficult to find well-fitting clothes, so I don't expect that to get any better for me. 4. A few evenings I have experienced leg cramps In addition to my multi-vitamin, I take a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement (as someone here suggested to me when I complained of leg cramps). That has completely eliminated my cramps. Great post. Thanks for sharing. -- Spring LC since 1/1/04 260/208/170 http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/spr...=/55b8&.src=ph Size: 24W / 14 / 10 |
