Driving on
Well to speak metaphorically, it's scary out there on the side roads, the
dirt roads of weight loss maintenance. The lines aren't real clear and I keep swerving off the road and getting back on, then swerving back off and getting back on awhile before I hit a pothole or find myself lost because I'm trying to find my own way with no signs. So I'm back to the four-lane highway of my prescribed eating plan. Unlike the dirt roads, I can't stop anywhere I please, or pull off to run into the woods for a minute. But the lines and signs are clear and if I follow those roads I can get where I'm going much faster and without so much angst. Am I willing to get off the country roads, which I like better, and drive on the freeway? I hate how you can't make U-turns and how you have to keep your eyes on the road every second for all the traffic and trucks. But do I want to get where I'm going or don't I? I had a nightmare last night that I was looking for an outfit to wear and none of my clothes fit me (I'm certainly not at that point yet!) and I had to look at a round rack of my old clothes and pick out something that would fit around my hips. I picked a green floral shirt (top of a two-piece set), which was from my old work wardrobe and as I now recall was a size 28W. So you can believe that my heart was pounding when I woke up. While I don't have any of my old fat clothes (gave away 25-30 Hefty bags full), they really are that close. So it's back to the highway starting today. Forgot to mention before that I saw my nutritionist (numbers were not good) and it was my last scheduled visit with him-- where you decide whether you are going to sign up for another 9 months and pay up front. So yes, yes, I did. I may swerve off the road but I am not going to roll over the car and let it burn with me inside. Mary M 325-167-150 |
