Default Experts slam low-carb trend as rip-off

Maybe someone can enlighten me about this.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/diet....eut/index.html

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Popular low-carbohydrate diets are leading
Americans to poor health and spawning a rip-off industry of
"carb-friendly" products, health experts and consumer advocates have
said.

They announced a new group, called the Partnership for Essential
Nutrition, to help educate Americans about the need for healthy
carbohydrates such as vegetables, fruits, beans and whole grains. ..."

They haven't read enough to know that what they want to educate people
about is what low carb's about.

Well part of this is true. The so called low carb products are not always
low carb. Other than that, the rest is common. You must realize people
don't like change and that is what is happening. Many people have
discovered that eating steak and cheese doesn't raise cholesterol in people.
In fact it may lower it. No one knows what to think anymore. Kind of
comical really. It is shaking up the way people think. Dr.'s are taking
notice and jumping on board and it is confusing if you have not read enough
info. So, people are trying to reverse this change because it is too much
for them.

It is amazing how many people think that veggies are a no-no on the Low Carb
WOE.

Sure, starchy veggies like corn, peas, potatos and such are discouraged, but
these same veggies are discouraged even on high-carb diets like Jenny Craig.

Let me try...
They are stupid, lying, misrepresenting, presenters of fear, uncertainty
and doubt that are obviously illiterate. I despise when people are
delibrately obtuse to press some half-assed bull**** agenda.

Yeah, because all the "97% Fat Free!!!" products created for the
low-fat craze were *certainly* not a rip-off leading to poor health.
