Thanks for all the suggestions. They are helpful--I think it is just
induction blues, and now I have some better ways of dealing with it.
appreciate the help.

Commonsensical nonsense...

Define "balanced food diet"....

Boy....both calorie restriction and more exercise will stress the body. LC
results in calorie restriction for most people who follow it.

One can indeed follow most LC woes for a lifetime.

Who said it was easy? Many don't find permenantly changing habits to be
easy...the reason for failure.

Patience and persistense are not useful as exercise but are great to
practice.

Myself obviously didn't follow the plan correctly to make permanent habit
changes.

Why? Are those foods vital to your survival?

Sigh....another dieting genius with age-old theoretical advice that works on
paper but is useless in practice for most people.

If you're a diabetic taking insulin or other diabetes medication, you
probably need to know just how low your blood sugar is in a crash, because
it might be dangerously low. Otherwise, there is probably no reason
you have to learn to stick your fingers and buy expensive bg test strips.

I started having occasional hypoglycemic crashes in my teens, some of
which were the hit the deck and be brought to the emergency room variety,
and no doctor ever suggested I use a bg meter. I just had to learn to
recognize the symptoms, and eat something before I was too weak to get
up and do so.

A few years before low-carbing, when I was trying to lose a few pounds,
I switched to artificial sweetener in my morning coffees with milk,
which were typically all I had for breakfast. The caffeine without
any sugar apparently stimulated enough insulin to bring on a crash,
until I learned to eat a little something to replace the sugar.

What a shame you never really read or did Atkins. Going withoug pasta
or bread for the rest of your life isn't part of Atkins plan, either.

I've been reading a book on reactive hypoglycemia. According to the
authors, the term hypoglycemia is a misnomer, as the problems really have to
do with carbohydrate absorbtion and glucose instability. These authors even
state that someone with "hypoglycemia" can suffer an episode even while BG
levels are not low....which of course, is counter to the definition.

Interesting. What book is that?

Thanks,
Martha

If you are on meds, ask your doctor about changing the dosage. I need far
less insulin when I'm low carbing. FTR, a cookie isn't the best choice to
quickly raise blood sugar but as someone mentioned, a little oj may help but
I seldom have it in my refrigerator. I do keep some hard candy in my purse
and in a candy dish at home, not the kind I really love but a good
"medicinal" candy like peppermint that I can easily stop at one piece. Also,
I do check my sugar if I'm feeling a bit crappy and either eat something if
it's too low or space my meals further apart if it's too high, which it
never is when I don't cheat

happened to me sunday, too, where i felt so weak I couldn't help my
sister move--even the light stuff. this after a week of induction.
what's good to munch on that will give me some energy without ruining
my carblessness?
