Default Aldi's grocery sto All high carb foods?!

We have a local Aldi grocery store that everyone raves
abt low prices

So I went there last night and looked around. It
seemed to me that all of this low priced food was VERY
high in carbs and sugar. many factory made things.

Anyone else have this same feeling abt Aldi's? Maybe
its just me or something.

Greetings!
When I had an Aldi near, I loved the vegetable prices, and they had a
breakfast sausage pattie (frozen, pre-cooked, 2 lb bag) that was very good.
Sometimes the meat and fish prices were good.
The Florida version of Aldi's just isn't as good.

I've never been to one, but they have a couple of them here in NJ that
I've seen. The areas they are located in are lower income areas and
the stores are small for typical groceries. And it's been well
established that the food stores in any lower income areas tend to
have the worst food choices, ie mostly processed foods, junk foods,
etc as opposed to fresh meat, vegs, etc. So, I'm not surprised

I've been to maybe a half-dozen Aldi's, and they aren't all the same. Some
have nice large produce and meat (prepackaged, they don't have butchers) and
frozen food departments - some have token produce and almost no "real" meat,
only processed frozen stuff. Some are much bigger than others also. So
they do vary. There isn't one near where I live now (we have a Sav-a-Lot,
I'd rather have Aldi's) but I always got my eggs/cheese/cream there, frozen
1# chubs of ground beef and ground turkey, chicken parts, sausage, frozen
fish, tuna, lettuce, broths, and a few other misc. items there and those
items formed the bulk of my cooking/eating for the week.

Cheese is cheap there - chunk, sliced and shreeded are all much cheaper
than the other grocery stores around here. And lots of lunch meats like
sliced ham. Bacon is cheap. I used to stock up and freeze this stuff,
but I'm buying raw cheese and no-nitrate ham and bacon now, so not at
Aldi's anymore.

I've heard lots of people say fresh produce is a good deal at Aldi's,
but both of the Aldi's near me have crappy produce most of the time.

Also lots of canned stuff is dead cheap - canned fruit for hubby (though
recently noticed some of these have HFCS and are to be avoided).
Spaghetti sauce is both cheap and pretty good for a generic.

If we're going on a road trip, it's convenient to hit Aldi's to stock up
on junk food. Hubby is gonna eat cookies and chips on a road trip, so
might as well buy it where it's cheaper than convenience store prices.

I also stock up on toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc. It's kind of a
2 or 3 times a year trip for me, to stock up on stuff. Not regular
groceries though.

We don't have much here, but we do have an Aldi's. I was only there
once and won't go back. I don't know if they are all the same
conceptually (bring your own bags/boxes, quarter for the shopping
cart), but our's is a zoo and it wasn't a pleasant experience. And I
didn't see that things were cheap enough to justify it. Also, just
cans, boxes and frozen stuff -- I'd have to make a trip to another
store anyway.
