I rationalize it this way, compared to my favorite, Grapenuts, it's
low carb. But agreed, it is hard to stick to that 1/2 cup serving size in the morning. Hoping that your post would bring out some new cereal recommendations. Guess not. Been burned so many times on very bad L/ C breakfast cereal that I won't try anything that doesn't come highly recommended. I used to love cereal but don't miss it enough to eat HFCS. -- Sherry lowcarb.owly.net |

Maybe it's time to start an e-mail campaign to the Atkins Nutritionals
asking that they bring back the Morning Start Cereal. They still sell other Morning Start products, many of which are made from soy and are high fiber. wrote: :: I rationalize it this way, compared to my favorite, Grapenuts, it's :: low carb. Weigh****chers Flakes 'n Fiber with Oats for 1/2 cup Toatl Carbohydrate 17 g Dietary Fiber 9 g - NET carbs 8 g NO SOY Tastes good. Not as low in NET Carb as the old Atkins product. Not available everywhere, however. I'll look for the WW F&F with Oats. My wife loves the WW Honey Almond Crisp, but it is way too carby. Can't understand why they put sugar in a product for dieters. |

My issue with cereal is that it takes a lot of control to eat a single serve. Ditto. If I can only eat a half-cup of something, it's a snack, not a meal. If eggs had 15g of carb each, I wouldn't have half an egg for breakfast and save the rest for later; I'd say "screw eggs" and just eat more bacon and sausage. It might be different if you're someone who only wants a little bit of food for breakfast, but mine always involves at least the 40g protein recommended by PP for my size. -- Aaron -- 285/235/200 -- http://aaron.baugher.biz/ "If you hear hoofbeats, you just go ahead and think horsies, not zebras." |

No matter how "low carb" or "high fiber" a cereal or grain product is, they
all trigger carbohydrate cravings in me...the exception being some low-carb tortillas, and I tend to not buy them anyways. I have learned I need to stay AWAY from grains and cereal!!! I treat everything as a salad, or wrap it in meat, or scoop it up with a pork rind. So, wow, I agree with JC today. Well folks I'm down to my last 3 boxes of the wonderful Atkins morning start Blueberry. They are already 3 years out of date, but I've been hoarding and doling them out as long as possible. I found a really good one in Trader Joes high fiber bran, but they've been out of stock the last month.
