Default Too Much Protein????

Hi, I've been on the low-carb/Atkins diet for about 8 months now.
I've lost ~60 lbs. I've lost a lot of inches. Lately, I've been
getting discouraged because I've not really lost, but have gained
a
few pounds.

What is your current weight? Are you to the point where calories
consumed might make a difference?

Amy

Currently, I weigh 340. I've just started exercising (walking on the
treadmill for 20 minutes),but started doing sit-ups in Dec 03. I've
just really been watching my carb intake, so I don't know about
calories. Thing is I no longer eat between meals like I used to. I
don't feel like (yep, may have the blinders on) I'm eating more or as
much as before I started Low-Carb.

drink around 80 oz of water a day.

Those things are possible, but a more basic question: are you still eating
the same number of calories you were when you were hauling 60 more lbs
around? As you lose weight, your caloric needs decrease and you have to
adjust according. In addition, for most people, weight loss slows as you
approach your goal. How close are you to your goal? Also, since you say
you're doing Atkins, have you found your ccl yet? How many carbs a day are
you eating?

I'd worry about those things before I started micromanaging on the
caffeine or aspartame, esp. if you were losing while using them before.

Martha

Hi, Martha,
I'm still very far from my goal weight. I started at 398.8 and am
currently at 340. I've been on Low-Carb for 8 months. I feel great,
actually. I don't have all the cravings and don't eat a lot between
meals. I have not found my CCL yet. I try to stay below 20 carbs,
but I wouldn't be surprised if it were a little more. I need to
strictly write down everything I eat for a month or so, to check
calories and carbs closer. Thanks.
