Day 6 and 4 pounds gone. In a hundred days I hope to have 50 poundsgone.
Dieting is never easy - lots of icebergs to avoid, lots of changes to
make. But it's a matter of physics, chemistry. Fewer calories in than you need to support your weight and you will lose the pounds, ounces, etc. Make those calories fewer by dieting and/ or exercise. I'm doing both. No magic, no nonsense, just nose to the grindstone and fewer calories in than you need to support your current weight. From my perspective, I want a reasonably big weight loss to maintain motivation. Mildly changing doesn't work for me and I don't think it really helps to motivate a lot of people. Hope everyone does well! Many of the names have changed since I was last here, but I sure hope everyone makes her/his goal and is supportive of others in their quest to lose weight. Yours, Caleb |

Welcome back to another year of your 100 day system. Expect to get called a troll this year as you have been called in so many previous years. From my perspective, I want a reasonably big weight loss to maintain motivation. Mildly changing doesn't work for me and I don't think it really helps to motivate a lot of people. The thing is - When you go for all or nothing nearly every time what you'll get is nothing. You're sure demonstrated that in all of your previous years. Everyone who's watched you over the years know you will be able to lose. The losing part isn't easy but it is straightforward. The losing part is hard work but not conceptually difficult. Do the actions and the weight drops. The important part is keeping off as much of the loss as possible for as long as possible. I notice that this year you have 50 pounds to lose. Is that more or less than your previous years? If it's less then you've made real progress. So let's talk about keeping it off. I can do it with low carb but for me like nearly everyone else it's unstable. If I start eating any foods from a specific list or over a specific glycemic index I fall off the wagon and start regaining again. Over the years I done regain phases as small as 10 pounds and as large as my entire 50 pounds of best loss. Then I start all over again from scratch. At best I do better in maintenance than you. At worst I don't do any better in maintenance than you. But you rarely discuss keeping it off. |

You can't lose 4 lbs in 6 days unless you're eating almost nothing and
exercising constantly. You lost water weight. "Caleb" wrote in message ... Dieting is never easy - lots of icebergs to avoid, lots of changes to make. But it's a matter of physics, chemistry. Gee -- you think so? Drat! Today it's day 7 and 7 pounds gone. Should
I put them back on? Don't think so. Obviously a lot of it is water -- almost certainly most of it. I have probably lost about 3 or 4 actual pounds. As time goes on the slogging gets more and more difficult with a loss of a pound or two on some of the weeks. Some people are scared by an initial large weight loss, but that's the way the body works, as it gets rid of water, etc. Anyway, I'm just chugging along! I hope your program works for you! Doug - -the research shows that even taking off a moderate amount of
weight for a while can really, really help with diabetes. You familiar with that research? Doesn't even have to be for too long. By the way, not much action here in the last few months I guess. It is amazing to me some of the nonsense I've read here over the years. On very loud poster said "Daily exercise is harmful!" Several people said that it was impossible to put on muscle while on a weight loss program. And of course the very common, "To lose more weight, eat more calories!" You're good at pointing out the deficiencies in such arguments. Keep up the good work!
