The flowering sounds lovely, even if the moisture levels are down. Too
bad California can't share.

My intended walk around the lake turned out not to be around the lake
but at Fort Snelling State Park where we hiked on Pike Island, which
is where the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers converge. The snow is
melting mighty fast, and the conditions of most of the area's ski
trails are posted as poor or closed.

Just to show how out of touch I've been with the world since the
holidays, I had no idea the WA gov election still hadn't been decided.
After this long, even the water cooler conversation has probably
gotten boring.

I worked yesterday and didn't make it to the shop to pick up my bike.
I'm in no hurry, though. I need to get this bod in a little shape
before I think about distance riding.

Believe it or not, my bike club does neither convert to another sport
nor hibernate. Or maybe it does a little of both. In December there
were night rides to look at Christmas lights. In January and February,
bike rides were scheduled every Saturday and Sunday, with the
possibility of weather cancellations. Mountain bikes are required for
winter bicycling. There were a couple of indoor rollerblading events.
One group of retired folks that bikes every Thursday morning uses that
time to get together at a local Panera's for coffee and socializing.
Another group that shares an interest in knitting and other portable
handcrafts meets one evening a week at a local library for knitting
and chatting. A couple of theater excursions, the annual banquet, the
annual awards, a funeral for a member who was killed while
bicycling... These people have made biking a community, not just an
activity.

There's a bike ride next Saturday I'll consider depending on the
weather conditions: C level, 14 miles, flat terrain. If the bike
trails are cleared of snow, I just might be out there.

Well, flowering cherries and plums are, well, flowering. So are tulip
trees. Daffies are up everywhere. Seattle is getting ready for an
official drought call this week as our "so-far" Governor reacts to bad
news on the snowpack levels. (so-far gov since the election is still
in the courts over the 129 vote difference).

I posted a link to me skiing yesterday at Mt Rainier but even there
the snow levels are very low considering normal. And one "ski" area
has zero percent of normal snow - NONE and most are still closed or
running much less than normal operations.

If I can get the legs moving, I will do a short bike ride today or
else, like you, walk the lake.

Hope you get to use the new bike soon. Oh, does your local bike club
convert to some winter program like skiing or just hibernate (G)

At the moment, it's 45F. The walks are quite slippery in the mornings
from the overnight freezing of melting snow. No biking yet. Today,
though, the sky is clear and the predicted high is 55F. There's no
danger in a long walk around the lake with my neighbor.

What's it like in your neck of the woods?

That's the right direction and a nice drop in the right direction.

Congrats.

How's the weather been treating you?

Well I arrived in Onederland and got stuck at 199 for 2 months, I seem to
like it here :-) It 's entirely my own fault, I 've had trouble staying on
track. I ' m struggling in a few areas of life at the moment and it seems I
'm looking for comfort in chocolate. But I keep trying. The weight will go,
even if it takes forever.

To keep trying is definitely trying, but trying and holding, while not
fun by anyone's definition, is most certainly better than quitting and
gaining. Hang in there, Nathalie. If you're holding during personal
struggles, you're a winner in my book.

It _is_ great to see you in Onederland Nathalie! Awesome! Me on the other
hand, I can't seem to keep any pounds off! LOL Oh well.

BTW, we are coming to NL from July 25 - August 10 again this year! Maybe we
can meet at the Metropolis again?
