Running
When I was 19 and thin, I was running 2 miles a day. I was in the
best shape of my life. I was 175lbs then. And at 6'5", I was a bean pole. My goal for weight loss isn't really a specific number, but to get back the V-line in my abdomen. We'll see what weight produces that. On several occaisions over the last few years (pre low-carb), I made some attempts to lose weight by running again. But I was 115lbs heavier. And the winter made running hazardous. So it never worked out. Last night, I was walking to a friend's house. Instead, I decided to run the distance because I felt like it. :-O It's not far, but running to the end of my driveway made me out of breath before. This time, I made it all the way to his house. Not far, i'd say 1/8th of a mile. I was also not nearly out of breath. It's amazing what a difference 35lbs makes. I still have about 45 to go. I can't wait to see what I can do when I get down to my goal weight. I'm aiming for 230 by christmas. So I should easily hit my goal by spring. Another before/after comparrison I'm looking forward to is pullups. At 290, I could do maybe 2. I haven't tried it lately. I think I'll save that till spring. brian 290/257/210 July 8, 2003 |
