For the Yuletide I've been known to make egg nog with
half-n-half/light-cream, egg, vanilla extract and either
brandy or rum. Heavy enough that watering it down
does work.

Every so often I'll have some of the zero carb beer
substitute that comes in concentrated form. Just add
water to reconsistute. I like bourbon for this rather
than scotch. Around once a week I'd rather spend my
carbs on a really nice beer than settle for whiskey.

Ok, ok, I know alcoholic drinks are never really low carb, but......I
enjoy a good drink once in a while, but most mixed drinks are just
loaded to the hilt with massive amounts of carbs.

I've found a couple of drinks that are pretty darned good and
*relatively* low in carbs. Low enough to enjoy a good blowout once in
a while. Here they a

-------

Daquiri

Lots of ice
2 oz White Rum
1 oz Daquiri mix
Top up with Diet 7up or Diet Sprite

Daquiri Mix
3 parts lime juice, fresh squeezed of course
1 part simple sugar syrup

Simple Sugar Syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Bring to boil to disolve sugar then cool

(As you can see there is only 1/4 ounce of sugar syrup in one Daquiri)

----------

Bulldog Highball

ice
2 oz Gin
juice of 1/2 orange, approx. 2 oz, fresh squeezed of course
Top up with diet Ginger Ale or Canada Dry Ginger Ale (about 1/3 the
carbs as most other ginger ales)

-------

Anybody else with *relatively* low carb drink recipes?

TC

I guess I should have mentioned that I prefer to minimize the amount
of sugar and non-caloric sweetners as much as possible.

Diet colas contain some pretty nasty chemicals that I try to avoid as
much as possible. In fact I would rather use small amounts of sugar
than anything that contains aspartame.

Scotch, straight up or with a bit of water. Sadly, this still has too
many
calories for me.

'Fraid I am not a big fan of Scotch, regardless of how it is served or
how long it sat in a barrel or how much its been filtered in peat.
