I have the flu and a question about Jello:)!
Hi everyone-
I have been on Atkins since March 1 of this year and I have gone from 276 to 185 as of September 1 (now I'm only weighing in every month). I am a 28 year old male, 6'1". It seems I have come down with an early case of the flu, I was hanging out with a friend of mine about a week or so ago who was just getting over something...he had been in bed for 3 days very sick. So I took a chance and I got sick anyways I ate my regular stuff yesterday but today the 'bug' has really kicked in and my stomach is just very upset and I don't think I'm going to be able to eat any solid foods and I don't like broth or anything like that. I wanted to ask if anyone has had any sugar free jello/0 carb jello while on the atkins program? Also would it be acceptable for me to look in the frozen 'treat' section of the grocery store to perhaps find atkins pop siccles or something like that? I'm craving some flavored icey treats right now but I'm determined to stick with my plan, as my final goal is 170lbs and I'm SO close I refuse to do anything that will set me back. Actually now that I think about it, I remember a few weeks after I had first started atkins I came down with a little bug (a late winter bug) and I actually had some sugar free jello/0 carb jello and it had no negative effect on my weight loss, nor did it stall me out. Actually I lost 4 pounds that week if I remember correctly so maybe I just answered my own question. Anyways it would be nice to hear some other people from this board if they have had any experience with what I asked about. Thanks! |

Sure, eat some SF jello. In fact, eat some sugary jello if you want to.
The carbs may help you recover quicker. About the jello:
I've used sugar-free jello all along. I think you'll find it's a common low-carb treat in this group. I'm surprised you're asking about it being okay with Atkins. I thought the Atkins book specifically mentions sugar-free jello with whipped cream as an example of an acceptable treat? (Mine does, anyway, but it's not the newest edition) Most brands of sugar free jello have aspartame in them, but some do not. And some people don't stall with aspartame. Also, you can make your own jello using sugar free koolaid, any flavor you want, and knox gelatin. You can search for more specific instructions, it's been on previoius posts here. Good luck getting over the flu. |

I always use the sugar free Jello with no problem when I don't feel
well. Crushed ice with a sugar free flavored syrup like Da Vinci works well too. Congrats on the weight loss and hope you feel better soon. :-) -- Cheri What's In A Name? wrote in message ...
