OMG, Monica! What a horrible fright to go through! By any chance,
were you (or did they tell you) that you were low in magnesium? I
was diagnosed with a skipped heartbeat (my cardiologist called it an
arrhythmia, too), and after monitors and blood tests, he told me to
take magnesium supplements. Haven't had any problem since.

Hi LOH,
Yea I was pretty freaked. Kind of ****ed off too since this was happening
after trying to take charge of my health. *sigh* But they didn't mention
about any vitamins/minerals at the hospital. I think they were more
concerned about stabalizing me at the time. I know I was depleted of alot
of vitamins/minerals, so I wouldn't be surprised. I've been taking
supplements since (not to mention checking my heart rate about every 10
mins).
When I go to my GP on Thursday, I'll discuss it with her. I'm glad she's
knowledgeable about low carbing and supports it. Her hubby lost 80lbs doing
it.

My nephew who is 25 had exactly the same thing. They never did come up

through the same procedures you describe because they couldn't get his
heart rate down. This was about six months ago, and he's been fine
since then. He's in great shape, works out etc., so who knows what
caused it in the first place, but it sure scared the heck out of all
of us. Best to you.

Thank you Cheri.
The cardiologist was fairly confident that this should probably not happen
again.
As an aside, and maybe this is true for your nephew too, I was under alot of
pressure and stress at the time also trying to negotiate a contract for my
company, which I don't think helped matters.
When I was in my 20's and earlier, I used to thrive on the adrenalin rush of
stress. But I've really noticed that over the years I can't seem to take
pressure and stress like I used to. If I had a choice, I'd rather crawl in
a hole and hide.
Thanks for your response and best of luck to your nephew.

Something similar happened to me on a trip to Germany, w/ no explanation.
The German doctor also "prescribed" magnesium, which we picked up at a local
store and made me feel quite good again (that plus a short nap). I had
completely forgotten it until you gals mentioned it. I'm continuing to have
weird symptoms, that currently I feel like can be attributed to poor
circulation (just a feeling). I don't know what to do to attack it, but it's
certainly been an unpleasant couple of weeks.

Your story is so amazing, and frightening. My god, they " rebooted" your
heart. I had never heard about such a medical act.

I guess the doctors would have thought about it if it could be that, but
have you considered you could have an unbalanced sodium/potassium intake ?
Of course, I guess many things could have caused this, but a severe lack
of potassium causes this kind of heart problem (or so I read).
Lack of potassium aften goes along with a lack of magnesium.
First symptoms a low muscle energy, paralysis, nausea.
Potassium is excreted from cells during catabolism of proteins, or when
you are dehydrated, or when your body is using glycogen as fuel.

Anyway, glad to hear that you are feeling better now.

I will surely take your advice about water and coffee :-)
