Default I've started the weigh-ins

This morning I tipped the scale at 244. I have thirteen weeks in which to
lose 25 pounds. All things considered, it doesn't sound like a reasonable
expectation, and at the same time, its not impossible. I am going to start
out with the following plan, and if I need to change it or start counting
calories, I will.

I plan to consume between 20 and 30 carbs per day. Most carbs will come from
low-carb fruits and vegetables, a few carbs will come from eggs, and some
from whatever it is they put in various packaged and prepared meats. Dairy
and nuts seem to be a problem for me. I don't want to cut them out of my
diet all together, but I like to eat those things, so I'll only have those
kinds of things once or twice a week. (This is what every lc plan is like
when you follow it, no? Nothing new here.)

So, each day, what I eat will be something like this: a cup or so of melons
and berries, a huge green salad with mayo, meat and maybe a couple eggs.
When I'm out and about and need to grab a quick meal, or if I'm just in the
mood for it, I'll buy a small package of nuts or four to five ounces of
cheese. No cheese or nuts in the house. (Unless you count the kids, I think
they're a little nuts sometimes.) Oh, holiday season, I may drink a little
alcohol. I'm not much of a drinker, I'll just count the carbs and keep on
going.

Exercise-wise, I'll ride my bike four or more days a week and start to do
some resistance training. Moderate is the key word for me, at least starting
off. I don't think this will do much for my weight loss, but it'll keep my
spirits up: exercise is a good thing.

Good Luck, Mike I am sure the kids will be supporting you, nuts or

This is not an issue of ordinary dieting. You have a high objective in a
short period.

Calories....
