Try that same breakfast you reported to us, a little differently.

Take away the toast.

Now, replace the milk with a touch of heavy cream (you won't need to
use as much - and trust me, once you switch to heavy cream, you won't
want milk anyway).

Add a cup of mixed green salad (with a low-carb dressing, or no
dressing).

See, it's not so hard. [And don't do it without the vegetables. He
tells you eat three cups of veggies a day. *DO IT*. Trust us.]

Really, you can live without bread - the one or two times I tasted
some over the months, I found it so lifeless and bland compared to the
things I'd been using to substitute for grain products. For
sandwiches? You can make meat roll-ups, or wrap in lettuce. Trust me,
really, after a while you won't miss it. How about smoked salmon and
cream cheese wrapped in nori? Lettuce tacos?
Even for the problem of "portable" food, that's not so bad. I take a
can of tuna and a can opener with me to school, and things to mix in
the tuna.

Something that helps for some people: make a big version of the
allowed-foods list in the Atkins book, and paste it to your
refrigerator.

I am unsure if LC bread is allowed in phase one. . The bread I have is 6 Net
carbs.
I had for breakfast 1 omelet with cheese, A slice of LC bread with butter,
and A coffee with twin and 2percent Milk.
Is this okay in Phase One?
I havent actually started the diet yet. I've just bought the bread to try it
out to see if its something I enjoy, and I can get by fine with it.
Any imput is welcome.
Thanks.

Speaking from my own experience and opinion, the most successful low
carbers don't try to sub out low carb equivalents of high carb foods.
Especially not durng their active weight loss period, meaning that low
carb bread, pasta, ice cream and all the other commercial products
should be avoided. Learning to live
without these foods will teach you new eating habits that you can use
for life. Penny, your children WILL eat sandwiches, french fries and
big bowls of pasta. Right in front of you. Most days, you'll eat
something else. Get used to it early in your program.

The other reason to avoid commercial low carb products is that labels
often lie. Sometimes the manufacturers play fast and loose with the
truth.

The phrase "net carbs" can be deceptive. Take the bread you mentioned.
That means that the bread producer has subtracted fiber, sugar
alcohols and anything else they can to get down to that 6 carb number
you cited. The only problem is that your body might not subtract the
carbs in the same way. So you could end up taking in double the net
carbs, or even more from that one lousy piece of toast.

Don't sabotage yourself. Learn to live without the high carb stuff. At
least for a while.

The best way to do Atkins is to understand it. Buy the book. Borrow it
from a friend. Get it from the library. If you're not doing the Atkins
plan, learn about low carb diets before you start. The FAQ's of this
newsgroup are a good place to start. Knowledge is power. That power
will help make you thin.

Just my 2 cents.
