Food & Exercise -- 10/26-28/2005 (Wednesday to Friday)
I went to Toronto on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday -- got home
around 10:00 last night. A good trip, but tiring -- meetings went well -- ate too much :-). Back to my routine today. Wednesday: Left the office in mid-afternoon to head to the airport, then flew to Toronto. After taking a cab to our hotel, we had a late dinner with the people we were meeting with at a fairly fancy restaurant (Crush). Then on the walk back to the hotel we stopped at a convenience store because a couple of the guys wanted to smoke a Cuban cigar, and I bought a packet of two butter tarts -- a sort of pastry that I've only seen in Canada and that has a lot of nostalgic connections for me from back when I was in grad school there in the early 70s. I didn't need them a bit, but I ate them. (They're sort of like little pecan pies but with raisins in them instead of pecans.) Food: * 8:30 (home): 30g l/f muesli, 30g All Bran, 22g whey protein, 1 cup skim milk * 12:00 (work, brought from home): salad w/ 1 cup mixed greens, some grape tomatoes, mushrooms, basil, 87g Healthy Choice turkey breast, 3 slices f/f cheese, & 3 tbsp f/f balsamic vinaigrette * 3:30 (airport): 2 oz. pistachio nuts * 5:00 (on the plane): 1/2 oz. pretzels * 8:00 (restaurant): small piece of bread w/ butter; 2 oz foie gras w/ a small piece of brioche French toast, a quail egg, and a miniature piece of bacon; 5 oz. grilled salmon w/ 2 oz. lentils; 2 chocolate truffles; 10 oz. wine * 11:00 (hotel room, from the convenience store): 2 butter tarts Totals: 2059 calories (190 from alcohol): 67g fat (29%), 192g carbs (37%), 137g protein (27%) Exercise: None, other than a fair bit of walking around. Thursday: Met from 8 to 4:30 with the company we were visiting, then went to the airport and flew home. They fed us breakfast and lunch during the meeting. Food: * 8:00 (meeting food): 1/2 bagel w/ whipped cream cheese; 1/4 large carrot muffin; 1 container f/f peach yogurt * 10:30 (meeting food): 1/2 bagel w/ peanut butter; 1/4 large blueberry muffin * 12:15 (meeting food): 1 1/2 cups soup (a light sort of tomato-based chicken soup); 2 brownies {They had a lot of sandwiches but they all included a spread with red peppers in it, and I'm allergic to peppers.} * 3:00 (meeting food): chocolate cookie; chocolate truffle * 5:30 (airport): tuna fish sandwich * 10:30 (home): one slice whole wheat bread w/ 3 slices melted f/f cheese {I'd had plenty of calories already but was hungry -- too many carbs, not enough protein, I think.) Totals: 1916 calories, 61g fat (29%), 256g carbs (54%), 86g protein (18%) Exercise: None, other than a fair bit of walking around. Today: Worked at home, then went to the gym, then to the grocery store, then home. Food: * 9:00 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices melted f/f cheese & 10g grated parmesan * 12:30 (home): turkey burger on oat bran English muffin w/ 3 slices f/f cheese, dill pickle slices, & catsup * 5:00 (driving home from gym): energy bar * 8:00 (home): 250g turkey meatloaf; 160g acorn squash Totals: 1296 calories, 41g fat (29%), 112g carbs (35%), 118g protein (36%) Exercise: 3:00 -- Olympic lifting + cardio: * Shoulder warmups * With hollow bar: 10 overhead squats, 5 drop snatches, 5 classic snatches * Classic snatch: 1x3x15kg/45lbs; 1x2x17.5/51.5; 2x1x20/44 * Classic clean & jerk: 1x1x25/55; 1x1x30/66; 1x1x32.5/71.5; 1x1x35/77; 1x1x37.5/82.5; 1x1x40/88 (jerk had too much of press-up to have likely been legal in competition -- this is pretty much my jerk limit); 1 clean at 42.5/93.5, after two missed attempts -- jerk wasn't even close * Clean pulls: 1x2x45/99; 2x2x57.5/126.5 * Front squat: 1x5x20/44; 1x3x30/66; 3x2x35/77 * Chins + abs: 2 x (1 chin, 4 partials, 10 knee raises, 10 side-to-side twists) * Jumping rope: 4 x 250 jumps (somewhat less frequent misses than last time) Chris 262/130s/130s started dieting July 2002, maintaining since June 2004 |
