Default L-glutamine

Is this stuff worth taking?

From the gnc website:

"Glutamine supplementation has been shown to prevent the loss of body
mass through the positive role glutamine plays in protein synthesis and
its action as a potent anabolic agent. When muscle glutamine levels are
restored and in a positive nitrogen balance muscle synthesis can return
to a normal rate. Glutamine also has actions on glucose metabolism and
the regulation of gluconeogenesis. Glutamine converts to glucose without
changes in either insulin or glucagen, the hormones that regulate blood
sugar. During dieting, and times of carbohydrate depletion, glutamine
can exert positive effects on the amount of body fat loss as well as the
retention of lean body mass. "

(How can it convert to glucose without affecting insulin or gucagon?)

No one can answer this question definitively....try it for yourself.

L-glutamine is also claimed to help rid on of cravings, too.

In the body of a T2D, protein can convert to glucose without significantly
affecting insulin. It's a matter of degree. It's not as if you're going to
be dumping tons of L-glut in your body, as you wouldn't normallly overeat
protein (which could affect BG levels on a meat binge, for example).

Have seen excellent results with both arthritic knees, cartilage lessened
joints and in athletes retuning from surgery to the knee joint..combined
with chondroitin, ymmv, purely empirical opinion.
