Yet, some people manage to do everything wrong and still live long. Why?

I think it depends on what you call "wrong." A lot of people still
think that eating fat is "wrong." Of the people I've known in my life
that lived to be near or over the age of 90, all of them, without
exception, spent most of their lives eating foods as natural as
possible. They weren't health nuts. In fact, most of them didn't have
the money for "health food" per se. They grew their own gardens, many
had their own live stock and often went hunting (I live in Texas. Lots
of hunting around here.) Some of them even liked meals like liver and
onions or soup with home made beef stock.

Some of them even smoked, but those I knew that smoked *always* smoked
cigars, not cigarettes. There is a rising concern that the cancer
caused by smoking may be caused more by the chemicals put in the
tobacco and even the paper wrapper than the tobacco itself. I honestly
have no opinion on the subject, but it *IS* interesting to read about.

Of course, a lot of it *is* genes, but not all of it, as was previously
(and erroneously) stated. So the answer to your question is... "It
depends."

Max.
