12 eggs per week ok?
Hi Folks,
In the 80's there was eggs-phobia: No more than 3 eggs per week. Some stretched it to 4 eggs per week MAX. The concern was cholesterol. With LC, does the concern still stand? Currently, I consume about 12 eggs per week. That's violating the 80's bible. Am I inline with the Atkin's bible? I found eggs to contain much less calories and fat than meat. 3 eggs contain 300 calories and are sufficient for one meal. To get the same level of hunger satisfaction from steak, I need one pound. That's 1000 calories. I begun losing weight faster when I incrased eggs meals and reduced steak and cheese ones. Thanks, J. |

They now generally accept that cholesterol problems are more likely to be hereditary, and not induced by excessive cholesterol consumption. I have eaten eggs daily all of my life and have had low cholesterol until my diabetes diagnosis and subsequent low carb diet. At the moment, for the first time, my HDL is less than optimum. That seems to be slowly correcting itself and may have been due to fact that I dropped a large amount of weight quite rapidly. Eggs are wonderful, and cholesterol is good.
