Diet Coke is OK for most of us. Dr. Atkins did warn that aspartame
may inhibit weight loss for some people, as can caffeine. Coke uses both, though the caff is far less than from coffee. A safer soda would be one that uses Splenda, like Diet Rite Cola, which I think tastes better than Diet Coke. |

Not that any food is ever required, but the good news is as you lose and get healthier uric acid problems tend to go as well. Also they tend to be cleared up by drinking more water. Question: since it has no carbs Alert! It sounds like you haven't read the book. All of the good low carb plans out there require carbs in the form of veggies. Geez, was that diet coke has no carbs, which is a good thing. Nice way to welcome a new person to the group. Or are you suggesting that we should now be getting carbs from soda? and no sugar is diet coke allowed? You won't get agreement on this point. It has aspartame so for the first two weeks of Atkins it is out while other plans often don't object. A suggestion: Don't make it about yes or no, make it about changing attitudes. Don't make it into a confrontation with your old habits, make it about wearing them down gradually. I suggest viewing diet sodas as a crutch and that some day soon you'll be able to walk without the crutch. View them as a substitute for your beloved regular soda and you'll always want them, and that's a bad habit that you aren't chipping away at. View them as a crutch and you'll want to taper off over time. Sometimes it's not where you start it's the direction you head that matters in the long run. |

That doesn't mean that's all they buy or that they go home and eat it in one day. Thank you, I was about to break out in tears. You're welcome. Cubit wrote: You might benefit from reading Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution. That's a sentiment most on ASDLC will agree with. It sounds like you are eating too much food. Including you, Cubit. The book says to eat what it takes to get through the early carb cravings. If it takes eating more than will be eaten later that's the way it goes. The appetite suppression starts once ketosis kicks in and until then it's temporarily fine to eat "too much food" so long as the carb count remains at or below 20 for the day and at least half from the veggies in the allowed list. Comments about too much food start having validity a week or two in. Are you replying to the right post? The OP stated it was his first day. There are these newfangled machines called "freezers" that have only been around several decades. |
