Default Day 48 Report - down 1.5 kg so far this week - and a skeptical noteabout Diet Coke

Day 48 Report

The scale ticked down yet again today.

At the beginning of the week I switched from Diet Coke as my main
beverage to plain, unsweetened green tea. This is after seeing no weight
loss one week and just 0.5 kg the week after that.

This week I've lost 1.5 kg so far and the week isn't quite over yet. The
only thing I changed is what I'm drinking.

I am really beginning to suspect that Diet Coke adversely affects diets
in a way that has more impact than mere temporary fluid retention. Could
the listed calories be untrue? If it was just water retention I would
have suddenly dropped over a couple of days and then been flat again.
But instead I seem to be proceeding at a good pace all week long.

Anyway, the total loss so far this week is 1.5 kg = 3.3 lb. This is a
total loss, since starting, of 9.0 kg = 19.8 lb. Almost 20 lb!

Congrats!

Green tea has various components that may postively affect metabolism.

Great news!

to plain, unsweetened green tea. This is after seeing no weight loss one
week and just 0.5 kg the week after that.

I was waiting for a follow up on this..

This week I've lost 1.5 kg so far and the week isn't quite over yet. The
only thing I changed is what I'm drinking.

Now that's the answer I was waiting to hear. Interesting outcome. I don't
drink diet sodas at all, but know I won't start now. I'd much prefer tea or
water in the evenings. Don't have any green tea - will have to get some now
:-)

Congratulations on the wonderful loss this week. Keep up the good work.

Well, this was just one person's experience -- and I expect it may be
more a matter of coincidence than what he's drinking. I'm sure it
isn't because Diet Coke has calories that they're lying about on the
label, anyway.

I lost 130 lbs. while drinking copious amounts of Diet Pepsi. I'm not
trying to recommend that anyone else consume diet soda, but I don't
think it had any negative effect on my weight loss.

Congrats !!!!

I'd look more at the "positive effect" of green tea, rather than at the diet
sodas companies lying. This being said, diet sodas while being weight loss
friendly, aren't all that healthy.. so there!

Some people loose very well while drinking diet sodas.. but I'm much more
about getting healthy than about loosing weight so I don't drink them.

It might just be that your body just suddently decided to cooperate.. who
knows.. ;o)

In any case, you did good !

Everybody seems to be saying the same thing here. I can't think of a
good way of testing one way or the other. Though I guess we can assume
*somebody* would hve noticed by now if the diet soda companies were all
lying.

Diet Coke has aspartame. Some have problems with aspartame
some don't. When my wife has any aspartame at all not diet
works for her; it blocks her loss somehow. I don't get
that effect.

there is some research that would accuse artificial sweeteners of impairing
weight loss, Lee
