Are there any good websites out there that calculate how many calories
you should be eating in order to loose a certain amount by a certain
time. Other than fitday. I am really not a big fan of that site. I
don't like it very much. Thanks in advance!!

Funny you should ask. I've just released a new program called "WeightWare"
that I think can help with that. It's designed as a weight and health
diary, and includes tools to assess your current weight, set appropriate
weight goals, and track your progress. You can download a free, fully
functional 45-day trial version from www.WeightWare.com to see if it meets
your needs.

How much are you trying to lose how fast?
There are some goals that some sites will avoid
supporting because they know it would
wreck your health.

I'd like to lose 20lbs in a moderate amount of time. I am 5'3" and
weigh 140. For 2lbs a week that would be about 10 weeks. Not really
concerned with how fast I lose as long as I see results every week. I
have been exercising (heavy cardio) for 3 weeks now and haven't seen
much results so I am thinking I am eating too many calories. I have
done the lowcarb thing and I am really starting to believe that to
lose weight you can be on a lowcarb or a high carb just as long as you
consume less calories than you burn. Which is why the lowcarb thing is
working for some people because generally they are taking in less
calories than before.

not very realistic

not very realistic either, especially for a woman.

losing while at normal weight is much more difficult than
is losing for obese people.

I am in the same boat as you, (5'11", 173 lbs) and my plan
for 2004 was losing 10 more pounds. It is bloody difficult,
although I do stay on track. Nothing like last year, when
Ilost 47 lbs and fat was almost literally falling off of
me.

done the lowcarb thing and I am really starting to believe

lowcarbing is also less helpful at normal weight and for
people without blood sugar control issues, frequent on
obesity.

I wish I was one of those people whose weight just falls off!
I still consider myself 50 pounds overweight, though with the
lean mass I've added, maybe 35-40 more in line. Still, every
ounce is a struggle.

But for this lady, I agree with you. A pound a week (on
*average* meaning 0 pounds one week maybe 2 the next) is a
realistic goal if she's consistent and persistant.

Failure is the path of least persistence!
