Men and women with fasting plasma glucose levels in the high-normal range of
87 to 99 mg/dL should be counseled with regard to weight and lifestyle, and
assessing their lipid profiles

As I have been saying all along.

http://www.geocities.com/lottadata4u/misdiagnosis.htm gives the whole
ugly story of why the diagnostic criteria for diabetes are intentionally
set so high that by the time your doctor tells you you have diabetes,
you also have serious complications that have taken many years to develop.

85 mg/dl is a truly normal fasting blood sugar and anything over 90
deserves attention.

By the same token, 4.7 is a normal hba1c value. Anything over 5
increases your heart attack risk.

They should be assessed regarding a diet with excess carbs.
