Absolutely. 4 years for me. I gained 1-2 pounds a year my whole adult life,
but lost back to my teenage weight after low carbing for just a few months.
Eating carbs will cause weight gain, but the weight goes back off if I don't
cheat. No need to count carbs or calories for this to happen.

Count me in. But it hasn't been easy.

It started on 1 October 2001 and it's been 315 weeks since then.

The weight's off: I weighed 125 kgs at the start and 106 kgs now. That's a
net loss of 19 kgs or about 42 pounds. In the last 3 years there's been a
slight (net) rise in weight but vigilance keeps it under control.

Like I said: It hasn't been easy. But the easy options aren't. Options, I
mean. Or easy.

How long? Like any plan you have to stay on it to keep the
loss. Someone with 20+ years posted recently.

Yes. That was Coldoll in the thread, "Show me your 20". She lost 46 kg (
about half her size ), and had kept it off for 25 years. I hoped she would
explain a little further about her history, but she didn't post anymore.
As for myself. I have kept off a 30 lb loss, and maintained 180lbs for
about 3.5 years with no problems.

I lost 20 pounds and have kept it off for 5 years. Prior to going on
a lowcarb way of eating I had been gaining 5 pounds per year, so it
would be reasonable to say that I am probably around 45 pounds lighter
than I would have been if I had maintained my old way of eating.

This doesn't mean I'm at an ideal weight, but I'm doing a lot better
this way than I was before.
