I wonder why my PMS is virtually gone and has been for quite some time. I
never have to pop painkillers for menstrual cramps, either. I don't intend
on ever going back to those painful days. Ouch.

I've had 4 TOMs since starting Atkins. They are no better (well, maybe a
little) and certainly no worse than before. I still need ibuprofen the
first couple of days, but THAT'S nothing new (it IS one of the BEST
inventions of the last 20 years or so, though -- leaves aspirin & Tylenol
in the dust when it comes to cramps). I've never taken Midol or similar
products because they've always made me feel sick, which seems counter-
productive :-) PMS symptoms vary from month to month, just like they did
before. Shrug.

Hmmmm. Wonder what the ramifications might be for perimenopause,
etc.?

Mm, yeah. Not.

Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, isn't. (That is, it is not a
commitee, isn't made up of physicians, and doesn't give a damn about
responsible medicine. It's a front for a vegtetarian activist group.)

About half way down the page you'll find what the AMA has to say about PCRM.

Oh, and Dr. Barnard, who founded the 'committee', is a psychiatrist.

"In a study conducted by Barnard". I'd like to see the actual study.

revek used to be afflicted with severe PMS. Used to be.

Hehe. Maybe we should take a poll. I will say that my own mood
is basically better, but in ways I feel sort-of
PMS-y/perimenopaus-y. Eeeek. Now I remember that I had a dream
that I was in early stage Alzheimer's, which frequently brings
mood changes. Ack!

Dr. Barnard (good buddy of Dr. Ornish) is doing his best to sell his new

I KNEW I recognized the name. Haven't looked at Ornish lately, so
I wonder whether he has at least recognized that there are good
fats and that it is not good to have an extremely LF WOE.

I might be the exception to the rule, but my PMS is not better. I had heard
all these great stories from ladies that said their breast tenderness had
gone away, the moodiness was gone and the cramps were almost nothing.

Since starting low carbing last November, my breast tenderness is about the
same, sometimes worse, the moodiness is gone, I have no energy for at least
a week right before it hits, and the cramps now last two days instead of
one. I eat ibuprofin like it's candy.

On the plus side, the period itself lasts only 4 days instead of 7-10 days
:-)

I've bought some extra supplements that I've researched about, (progestrone
cream, chasteberry, and dong quai) and I'm going to experiment with them
next month to see if they'll help the symptoms.

Anyhow, he's a vegan. If he wants to eat his eggless cupcake, more
power to him.

God no. When I'm low carbing I have NO PMS symptoms.

Me, neither. Not only that, my periods are shorter, and the time between
them is longer. Nice.
