Why didn't I think of this earlier! A perfect way to get a lot of
flavor into things like sweets made from cheese--Boyagian's citrus
(and other) oils. Tonight I was making a little dessert from
ricotta cheese, mascarpone cheese, Splenda, and lemon zest. I was
thinking of adding a bit of lemon extract to boost the flavor, but
I didn't think the flavor would be right, and then, miraculously,
I remembered the little oils that have lurked in my fridge door
since god-knows-when. Perfect! Stirred in a few blueberries
(first time since I started this WOE a month ago). Too bad I am
not hungry and cannot eat very late. Maybe I will have it for
breakfast tomorrow--or maybe a snack at some point. The spoon I
licked was very promising.

Boyajian oils are the business. I'm a big fan of their orange oil. And
thanks for the idea -- I'm going to use it to flavour cream cheese. I
was wondering what to do with it now that I'm not eating wheat.

Miche

Hey, you can get them in NZ? That's great!

Yes, yes it is. They're expensive, but worth every cent.

BTW, I noticed I
misspelled their name, but I didn't bother to post again to
correct that. You are, of course, correct.

Heh, no big.

Were/are you on
rfc?...

Yes. Have been, on and off, for nine years now.

I thought so. I am more here than there now. It's amazing how
much you can click through when you are LCing.

I had wondered where both of you were since I had noticed neither of you
were on rfc much lately. Then I wandered over here and found a whole *slew*
of rfc posters whom I have not seen/heard much of! Poor rfc, not only has
it lost many of its great posters because of the in-fighting and off-topic
posts, but now it's lost even more to lc-ing!

I'm in other places now more than rfc, but I still stick my head in
every few days.

Hi Rona! Yes, my posting on rfc has tapered off a lot. I guess
part of it is what you speak of--I don't really mind off-topic
posts so much, since I can just click past them, but the nastiness
does get to me. It's funny, because that used to be my main
group, and I HAD to go there at least once a day. Now I got there
every few days, and I might go even less but then I would be
buried in posts.

Your cookbooks still languish on my floor BTW. And now I have one
for someone else languishing up here. I have to figure out how to
actually make some progress with that. (Um, see who is the best
at procrastination?)

Hmm, it sounds to me like rfc is to your Usenet life as carbs are to your
WOE :-). Yes, the nastiness is annoying. I managed to kf most of the
posters who bothered me most and that helped a little (very little, but a
little). Now I only read posts with specific topics that interest me and/or
posts by certain people (whom I have highlighted). That actually leads to
very little reading (maybe fewer than 2 doz. posts/day). Sad, given that it
used to be quite a bit more enjoyable.

Your cookbooks still languish on my floor BTW. And now I have one

Hey, I always say that if you have to be good at something, you may as well
really excel at it! I still haven't started my writing for my MA and it's
been more than one year. I'm supposed to finish by Dec. 2003 so I can
graduate in May 2004, but it doesn't look promising. However, I may be
moving back to Japan in the spring, so if I can get off my butt to do that,
then I won't mind not finishing yet :-).

We might be heading to NH for Christmas and that would include at least a
day trip to Boston. Maybe we could meet up somewhere (if it happens)? Or
if you're ever in Japan...:-).

That is very true!!!!!

It was, wasn't it? As you said, many good posters have
disappeared.

Moving! Wow! And ack, I'd better get those cookbooks off to you
ere that happens. Same addy?

Definitely! Then you'd really get the cookbooks too!!!!

Or
if you're ever in Japan...:-).

I'd never say never. That is the one place my daughter really
wants to go, since she is really into anime and manga and plans to
be a manga artist when she grows up. (No comment...) Of course,
it would halp if I remembered some Japanese. My daughter says she
is teaching herself Japanese. I may get her a tutor this summer,
so she doesn't get TOO entrenched in her bad habits.

If you have the address in Winnipeg, it's the same. But again, no hurries!

I'll let you know in December if we make it to NH. I'd love to hit Boston
and the Cambridge area, but it's hard travelling around with my niece--she's
only 4 so her parents tend to schedule everything around her schedule (what
would keep her interested, her naptimes, etc.). She gets cranky when she
doesn't get her nap!

BTW, the job in Japan would be in Kobe--an excellent area to visit!

rona (I'd have gone to e-mail, but I have a vague memory that you filter
all hotmail and yahoo addresses)
