Long time, no post
It's been a long time since I posted, so it is past time for an update.
May of 2002 I started Medifast -- a 500 calorie a day medically supervised liquid diet. I lost 82 pounds by November 2002 and had begun to work out. I've done pretty well maintaining the loss. I sold my house in August and have been travelling. This has screwed up my working out on a regular basis -- but I just moved "permanently" and have been checking out gyms. I am going to do a trial membership at one that looks nice and should get back into my routine. I'll bet I've lost a lot of muscle in the last month! I am up about 10 pounds on the weight. Me bad. I went on a real candy binge around Halloween and haven't dropped it yet. I've decided to order some Medifast so I don't let it get out of control. I swore to myself when I lost the weight I'd never be fat again. I meant it. I was starting to have health problems and (vanity aside) I value my life too much to lose it over food. So how are all of you? Sophie |

Hi there "sme" I remember you well. Good to hear from you again.
Do tell us more about how you were eating for maintenance after coming off the Medifast. I'm always interested in not just people's journeys but how they cope with "normal" life again when they arrive a their goal, which to my mind is the real test. Glad you were so successful, and you must feel a lot better without all those pounds janice On Sat, 22 Nov 2003 17:19:53 GMT, "sme" wrote: It's been a long time since I posted, so it is past time for an update. I do feel much better -- no comparison. I'm paranoid about weight gain!
How have I maintained? Well, as I said I'm up a bit right now -- but for the most part I do low-carb. I weigh myself every morning and if I'm up a pound or two I really stick to the low carb. If I go all out for a few days (vacation, or my Halloween candy orgy) I do Medifast during the day and have fish and veggies for dinner. I can drop 2-3 pounds in one or two days with that regime. I always said that (for me) Medifast was a means to and end. The hard part would be (and is) maintenance. It is a constant struggle. But worth it. |

Good to hear from you. Hope things calm down for you soon.
I'm still maintaining, pretty-close to end weight, working on building up muscles. I have developed a nasty but useful case of vanity. grin -- ¤bicker¤ "It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring." - Carl Sagan People are, of course, welcome to place whatever irrelevant limitations on their ability to enjoy something that they wish. |

Vanity can be a GOOD thing, as long as one doesn't take it to "Donald Trump"
extremes. Good for you. |
