Hi gang,

started my diet today. Day 1 and counting. I went to the commissary today
and bought a truck load of chicken, turkey and fish. Not really crazy for
red meat specialy beacuse of uric acid problems.
Question: since it has no carbs and no sugar is diet coke allowed?

Did you match it with 4 truck loads of veggies?

sucks teeth Controversy! Some do fine on it, it gives others carb
cravings, and/or causes stalls. You'll just have to listen to your body.

Nicky.

If you can lose weight and drink it, it's allowed. Hell if you can lose
weight and eat all the sweets and carbs you want then that's allowed. It's
just that for most people, it causes a problem. But it might not for you.

RTFB

You might benefit from reading Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution. It sounds
like you are eating too much food.

Use portion control to just eat enough to stop hunger. Do not eat until
"full."

I made best progress by calorie and carb counting with a computer program
called Fitday.

I have no connection to Fitday, except as a download customer.

Are you replying to the right post? The OP stated it was his first day.
There was absolutely no mention of how much he ate just what was purchased.
Lots of people buy meat in bulk. That doesn't mean that's all they buy or
that they go home and eat it in one day.

Not that any food is ever required, but the good news is as you
lose and get healthier uric acid problems tend to go as well.
Also they tend to be cleared up by drinking more water.

Question: since it has no carbs

Alert! It sounds like you haven't read the book. All of the
good low carb plans out there require carbs in the form of
veggies.

and no sugar is diet coke allowed?

You won't get agreement on this point. It has aspartame so
for the first two weeks of Atkins it is out while other plans
often don't object.

A suggestion: Don't make it about yes or no, make it about
changing attitudes. Don't make it into a confrontation with
your old habits, make it about wearing them down gradually.

I suggest viewing diet sodas as a crutch and that some day
soon you'll be able to walk without the crutch. View them
as a substitute for your beloved regular soda and you'll
always want them, and that's a bad habit that you aren't
chipping away at. View them as a crutch and you'll want
to taper off over time. Sometimes it's not where you start
it's the direction you head that matters in the long run.

It took about 18 to 20 months for 310 to 160. 320 was back in 2001, and
I've been as low as 146 in January 2006.
