Default 3 full weeks into Atkins Diet

Well, it has been 3 weeks and I guess I am doing alright, although I
had planned to attend a wedding this past Saturday for 3 months, and
unfortunately, I went a bit crazy at it. I figured I would still
think about what I was eating, but it would not hurt to have a night
where I ate some carbs. Well, I lost track of what I ate as soon as I
went to the bar and they had Samuel Adams on draft and were giving it
out by the pitcher.

Needless to say, between the 2 pitchers of Sam, about 20 breaded
shrimp, a plate of Stuffed Sole with crabmeat and the garlic mashed
potatoes, I am sure I dropped straight out of ketosis. I was already
on the edge anyway, so I probably completely disappeared after this
weekend. I honestly don't even feel like doing the test for the next
few days. Interestingly, when I got back Sunday night, I had only
gained a couple pounds, which is good for me, since I weigh 370+. But
I guess it all hit Monday night, when I got home from work. My usual
after-work weight has been 370, but Monday night it was 377, and after
dinner I hit 380. Before bed, it went back down to 377, and this
morning it was 375.

My appetite is back, but I didn't eat many carbs. Just some Roast
Beef/Turkey/Ham/American Cheese rollups with cream cheese and a couple
hard boiled eggs for lunch. For dinner it was a caesar salad, with
Marie's dressing (only 1 carb for 2 TBL), and about a pound of broiled
chicken with some seasoned salt and garlic. Then for the Eagles game,
I gorged on a pound of shrimp, with a TBL of cocktail sauce(at 6 carbs
per TBL, I was stingy and used only 1 and a half TBL). I figure I had
about 20 carbs for the day, but today I still felt very hungry.

Today, I had a cheeseburger without the bun, with a little ketchup and
onions, and also a cheesesteak with some onions and a little ketchup
as well. Probably a total of 12-15 carbs. For dinner, I am going to
eat some filet mignon I bought last night on sale along with another
caesar salad.

I have continued to drink the caffeine free diet pepsi, so I can't
kick the aspartame bug. But I have had some caffeinated Diet Pepsi
and also some coffee at a couple restaurants over the weekend, and I
didn't wake up with a headache or begging for more caffeine. So it
does appear I have kicked the caffeine addiction for now.

I read somewhere in Atkins that it is OK to have a binge day, but that
it will slow your weight loss for a couple days after. I just hope it
doesn't pull me away from the diet. I'm "butching up" as much as
possible, and hopefully, playing a little rough touch football tonight
will help with the calorie burning.

Thanks for all the help and for listening.

When I hit 3 full months on the diet, I had a little binge. We went to Golden
Corral for dinner and had been totally good, until dessert. I just broke down
and had a brownie with ice-cream and fudge on top. It was good, but I felt so
full and bloated after eating it (the meal was quite large) that it will be a
while before I do THAT again.

It felt good to indulge a little, but not as good as being in control of my
diet does.

Keep the goals in mind and get back on track...you (and I) will be fine!

Well, I'm not an expert, but doesn't sound like you blew it all weekend or
anything. I don't see a problem with falling off the wagon every once in a
while as long as you get back on. You probably just gained water weight
anyway, and that should come right back off. That's what usually happens when
I have a little "cheat."
If you're concerned about ketosis, go back to induction. Some people say start
over with 2 weeks induction. I usually just do three days to a week, depending
on how bad my cheat was. But it sounds like you're back on track!
