Default Ketosis Appetite Suppressant

While in Ketosis I was not hungry ever. I actually forgot to eat. I was
able to walk on the treadmill every day and felt really good despite
some pretty severe health problems. I've been on Atkins 7 weeks. After
doing only 15 Carbs daily avg. for a month, I added low GI veges and
occaisionally Macadamia nuts, 20-25 Carbs. I gained two pounds and
cannot get back into Ketosis. I really am hungry most of the time now,
especially at night.
I've gone back to being tired and sleepy and just don't have the
strength nor the oxygen to exercise.
I have Dr appt tomorrow for thyroid testing and cholesterol.
I still haven't given up, Atkins has to work for me. I lost 4 pounds
not counting the two I gained back.
Is it possible that I might have to stay on a 20-carb maintainence
plan for life?
Could I possibly survive on that?
I do not miss bread, pasta, cake, and starches, not anymore. Just the
thought of never being able to eat any fruits, no honey-dew melon,
strawberries, peaches, nor orange juice......it's very depressing.
Please, God don't let me relapse.

Becky, thanks for responding. You are the only one so far. I got very
little response/support from my other post. I am Senior Citizen, 4' 11"
lost from 150 down to 144. It was very hard for me. I gained 2 lbs back
when I increased Carbs.
Evidently I am extremely metobolic-resistant. I had Thyroid Tests
today and will get results and/or medication Tues. When I posted
previously askng for support from others who are possibly MR and
Disabled. One poster, no two, told me to drink LOTS of water. I have
been medically instructed to drink what is necessary to quench my
thirst, but that I should not ever force myself. I have Pulmonary Edema
and Asthma after losing one of my lungs to cancer. I must take very
potent RXed diuretics daily. Another poster said that I needed more
exercise...two miles per day. If the truth were known, I can barely
manage 10 minutes on treadmill at present. They told me to cut the
Aspartame, and it's gone.
And don't disregard J C the know-it-all. He insisted that I do not
have under-active Thyroid, just an over-active fork. He hasn't a clue;
should sweep the dust from his own back door. The only thing over-active
with him is his mouth.
Anyway, I suppose most everyone in this group is young and healthy
with very little medical problems. Please just overlook my two posts, I
am tryng to find a group with Senior Citizens who are doing Atkins.
I asked if it was okay to be a part of this group, but it's alright,
I changed my mind.

Doug, thanks, and I'm trying to get it right. I have copies of both
Atkins Diet Books, the first one was published in 1973, I believe. The
original diet was zero carbs (which is almost impossible) on Induction.
I was sorta combining the two diets to come up with one that would work
for me. I have read both books, and I forget which one said what. LOL
The Ketosis Test strips never turned dark, it was always pink. But
now of course it's beige.
Your post was very helpful.
