Default low carb bread crumb chicken substitute?

Hi,

I have some ground almonds (or maybe its walnuts - too lazy to run down and
check). Is that a good substitute for bread crumbs with regards to chicken
fillets? Would I treat them the same as bread crumbs?

Thanks,
Ben

BTW. my wife lost 6 pounds in her first week on a low carb diet, but this last
week has been dissapointing where she remained at the same weight. Part of
the problem might be that every Friday night and Saturday day she has a small
slice of Challah as a part of a Sabbath meal. On the other hand she was having
that while losing weight before so I am wondering if it might be some hidden
carbs somewhere. We bought some low carb ice cream which might be it.

Why are you eating ice cream if you want to lose weight?

P.S. You are much too lazy and stupid for this diet. Give up now and quit
wasting everyone's time.

Almond flour (finely ground almonds) will work as a breading for
chicken. But it might change the flavor of your recipe. I've tried
to make Chicken Parmigiana various ways - with ground hazelnuts,
pulverized pork skins, and some extremely expensive low carb bread
crumb substitute. The hazelnuts and pork skins changed the flavor
of the chicken too much for me. So, I now use the expensive stuff.
I had some expensive fake instant potato mix that made some pretty
disgusting potatoes - but works great as the base flour coating.
Then, I dip the chicken in egg. And use the low carb bread crumbs
last (I think they were Keto brand). Can't tell that it's any
different than with the higher carb ingredients - and even some high
carb guests didn't notice! (I did make some pasta for them, lucky
skinny people!).

Me? Sorry fatso. I don't need the diet. I was asking for those who do and who
I cook for.

BTW. the fatso insult was only for the rude person who responded and not the
other fine people who are in the newsgroup regardless of their weight (these
things don't make a difference to me).

Fatso? Compared to what?

Ok. Since you're an idiot, let me re-state it for you.

Why are you feeding ice cream to people who want to lose weight?

Idiot.

And oh yeah btw... I'm sure it's not you that is on a diet, it's obviously
the people you are feeding.. wink, wink.

That's understood. Just ignore him (and others in the group). They
won't go away,
but some do kinda grow on you after a while. Like mold....

An idiot compared to what? :-)

Simple. I do not work or have anything to do with assisted living. I may cook
but I don't dictate what they eat. I.e. I don't feed anyone.

Idiot.

:-p

the people you are feeding.. wink, wink.

I see that this fat person can't relate to people who have always been in
their healthy weight range without trying. Not that you are jealous.. wink wink.

Ben

I lost 7 lbs during the 1st week and none the second. Most of the impressive
loss during the first couple of weeks is due to water loss. Fat takes a little
longer to lose, so expect it to slow considerably after the first week or so.

Depending on your low-carb plan bread is probably a no-no for the first couple of
weeks. Low-carb ice cream is kind of iffy. I eat it, but I DO count the sugar
alcohol carbs. I suspect it DOES slow me down, even if the carbs and cals DO fit
into my daily budget, though.

Thanks for this. I passed it on to my significant other.

Ben

Ground sesame seeds also work well. I mix them equally with ground up pork
rinds and parmesan cheese.
