HHH & NYNY updates for next week
Fred wrote in message . ..
Thanks. We are still attempting to figure out what has changed. AT&T's dsl is actually covad. I don't know about Earthlink. Like you, I do not recall changing anything other then adding in ZoneAlarm. Now that could be a hint but removing it did not fix the problem. And I was able to use the dial-modem and get to the site. On Sat, 08 Nov 2003 01:53:01 GMT, "briezee" wrote: I'm another one using Earthlink DSL. My work loads the page fine. My modem in my computer is currently not hooked up, though I believe my folks' dialup Earthlink works correctly. Angelfire was working fine for me until about 2 weeks ago, whenever I first starting posting in this group. I use Tiny as my firewall. None my logfiles indicate any issues though. -Brie [snipped] Greetings! I just popped in here after searching for info related to your problem. I have Earthlink DSL via Covad and can't get to Angelfire websites, and I asked a contact who works for Earthlink to track the problem down for me. Apparently, there was a problem with a scam operation run from an Angelfire website which involved fraud against Earthlink and its customers. Since Angelfire didn't shut the site down in a timely fashion, Earthlink and Covad null-routed them, meaning you cahn't get they-ah from he-ah [from Covad]. If you need to see Angelfire sites in the meantime, Earthlink dialup will route there just fine. They're working on a solution [provided the offending site is down or gets taken down], so be patient. I was looking for a link to the site in question when I found your post. |

You are RIGHT. Thanks for the info both above on the reason and on
the fact it is now working. On 13 Nov 2003 17:22:52 -0800, (Archmage) wrote: You should be able to route to Angelfire from Earthlink and Covad now. |

Wow, who knew that this little thing would produce such a fuss? I'm just
glad that it seems to have been resolved now! I contemplated moving it to the space on my ISP's server, but they don't allow forms and the challenge webforms get used daily so... *sigh* Oh well, at least it seems to have been fixed for the moment! Well, some of us found that we could access the site if we used a
dialup modem. Don't worry - hope you have a good time "off." On Fri, 14 Nov 2003 20:55:57 GMT, Amberle3 wrote: Wow, who knew that this little thing would produce such a fuss? HHH & NYNY updates for next week
LOL! Silly boy! Somethings are better left alone. g I have a huge sheet with
all my passwords written down (forget way too many of them in the past). I've noticed it's time to update and retype them - many I don't use anymore, some have been changed numerous times. PIN numbers I've solved ... immediately change each one, so now everything has the same number. The number means nothing to me, so won't be anything that jumps out to anyone else either. I finally did figure out why we can't remember all those passwords and new information though. It's because we have too many old song lyrics filling up our head and sucking up the space needed for useful information. g Actually, my brother explained to my mom what her problem is (long term memory is good, short term is non-existant)... her hard drive is workin' fine - it's the ram that is depleted. We need more RAM! Joyce On Wed, 12 Nov 2003 12:55:09 -0800, Fred wrote: Oh, NO, I did change the password - the trick last week was to remember what it was. I still have to call, maybe later today? Joyce On Wed, 12 Nov 2003 07:56:20 -0800, Fred wrote: I know about manuals growing legs - my linksys manual is SOMEWHERE, I guess. Need to call computer place to see if I can get a new hardcopy manual for the new puter ... seems the one that came with it grew legs and walked away, never to be seen again. How it did this in the matter of a few hours, I'll never know! Don't even get me started on the billing department of the nursing home that keeps threatening to evict my mom because of non-payment (tons of calls between that idjut and long term care ... trying to track down where the heck they applied all the checks they were sent). Dentist, orthodontist, eye dr., storage facility ... are a few others that immediately come to mind as *urgent*. I just don't see it being the router, seems to many people are having the same problem at the same time. Would be really odd for all our routers to go crazy at the same time. My vote goes to angelfire and the lycos thingy. If I type in the address for the home page that you posted last week, I can now at least access that page - which I can't by dropping out the .lycos part. But adding it to the address of the NYNY website still doesn't work.
