You can drink, try low-carb beers. they taste like **** but do the trick.
also, ive found i get more trashed when not eating carbs for some reason, not exactly sure why. but hey, its cheaper to go out and drink w/friends. lol From: "Jimmy" Subject: No mixing alcohol & low-carb diet (at all!?) :-( Date: Saturday, November 15, 2003 3:22 PM i am new to this group and have not taken the customary time to lurk so i apologize if this has been covered, but i have read pretty much all information at http://www.grossweb.com/asdlc/ and i still have a question....so i'll get to the point.... i am a 36 yr old male, 5' 10", was up to 195 pounds, went on low-carb diet (not Atkins) and i have lost about 25 pounds so far (in about 2 months!), down to 170 and i've plateau'd here for about the last 2 weeks. My goal is 155-160 pounds so i'm almost there. (for 3 years i wasted my time with low-fat diets that sucked, and i lost only 3-4 pounds at a time....low-carbs....who woulda thunk it!?) anywho, on Monday (Nov 10), I drank 4 Seagrams vodka coolers (the first time i've had any alcohol since i started the diet) Not only was i pretty much looped (it used to take me a dozen beers to get the same feeling!), but by Wednesday morning i was back up to 175 pounds! I hadn't gone "up" since i started this until now. now i realize the sugar content can account for some of this but does this sound a little unusual? 5 pounds gained back just from drinking a few coolers? I never changed my diet at all in this time period, just the addition of the alcohol. here it is Saturday and i am back down to 171. so it would appear i am doomed to never drink again while on a low-carb diet? has anyone else experienced this particular problem? would a super portion of protein at the same time as your drinking help at all? I don't want to go up again so i dont want to experiment! all comments or suggestions much appreciated! -christian --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
