I hurt everywhere joints, muscles. I've been on strict Atkins since
August 2003 I've lost 76 pounds. I started taking potissuim and calcuim
today. Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be causing this. It
started about a week ago and has gotten worse as the week wore on
althought I'm better today than I was yesterday. If I'm not lots better
Monday I'm calling the doctor.

Magnesium and B vitamin deficiencies could also be to blame. do you take a
regular multi vitamin?

Yes. You get plenty of iron from your food (dark green veggies are very
high in iron), and there is a small risk of iron buildup in the blood,
which is not healthy. The risk number I've seen is 1 in 200 for those
of northern euro/caucasion descent, less with other groups. The risk
is also less for menstruating women, of course.

You don't have to get anything special. Pick one of the senior
multi-vitamins, as those are formulated without iron.

I have been borderline anemic for a time, since a teenager. With blood
work, I still am borderline anemic, low iron. Even though I am still
menstruating. So, maybe some blood work to see if its OK to take some
with iron.

If I forget to take the magnesium and postassium, the pain increases.
Then when I start taking them again, it takes a few days for the pain
to ease some.

If the pain continues, go to your doctor.

Nancy,

Are you taking a statin cholesterol lowering drug? They can cause a kind of
muscle pain that is very dangerous and can be fatal if ignored.
