Increase carbs with exercise?
I've added some exercise to my life (bike riding). Right now, I'm doing
about five miles a day up and down some reasonable hills. I hope to get to the point where I'm riding about an hour a day at a fairly intense level, probably 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at night. My no exercise carb limit is around 30/day. Also, is it necessary to increase carbs? Its not like I'm doing hard core exercise. Thanks, Mike |

Well, it makes perfect sense not to increase carbs if you don't need to. If/when you start doing enough exercise to require more carbs, you'll know it. What we don't want/need to do here is to get the notion floating around that just because you do some exercise, you need more carbs. Sometimes the points are subtle, and that's where the danger is. |

Increase carbs with exercise?
This was addressed by Igor a few years back, when he ran a marathon without
carbs. Carbs might play a role in preparing for the Olympics, but IMHO in ordinary exercise there is no justification for increasing carbs. Are all generalizations over your head? You can rationalize the excuses you make for your obesity, or you can do something productive. |
