Are there any breakfast cereals allowed while Low Carbing?

I hazzard a guess that there are few if any.

Occasionally there will be a cold cereal that claims to be low carb on a
shelf at a discount store that I've found...but for hot cereals I make a
nice one with a couple Tbsp each of flax meal, oat bran, pecan meal, and
vanilly protein powder, plus some water and butter in the microwave; when
it's done I add cream and a little sweetener - usually xylitol.

Trader Joes has a really good one called High Fiber.

Right,

But if you look you can find ONE of the Weigh****cher cereals which has
17 g total carb and 9 grams of fiber for 8 grams net -- out of a 1/2 cup
(one ounce, dry) serving.

That is twice as much carbs as some of the discontinued low carb cereals
of just a few years ago.

So, on induction, it just isn't worth thinking about boxed cereals.

You could consider getting one of these, and diluting it with things
like flax and bran.

But it would probably still be too much of a chunk of your limited carbs
on induction.

It sure is convenient to just pour cereal, add zero cal sweetner and
milk and eat. But, it isn't in the cards for induction, and perhaps
will never be a daily food item - just special occasions.

Hmmm.... milk. Maybe heavy cream + water? I've seen "low-sugar" instant
oatmeal where you just add water, I don't know what "low sugar" means
though.

There are LC cereals, but opinions vary on whether any of them are
tastier than a bowl of sawdust. I think some people do something with
flax seeds or flax seed meal, and ground nuts may also be an option.

When my fiance first started low-carbing, she said my usual bacon and
eggs breakfast upset her stomach if she ate it first thing, so she'd
warm herself up with some LC toast or cereal, or skip the meat and eggs
altogether. After several weeks on LC, though, she seems to have gotten
over that, and eats meat and eggs for breakfast quite happily, although
she still says it goes down better with some carbonated water. (I do
cook excellent eggs, so that helps.)

Not for induction at 15g net carb per serving, but this is my current
favorite cereal:

Mix together:

2 cups almond meal
2 1/2 cups flax meal
1 3/4 cups raw wheat germ
2 cups oat bran
2 1/2 cups unflavored, unsweetened milk isolate protein powder
1 cup soy lecithin
1 cup cinnamon

(This is approximately 1/2 lb of the first 5 ingredients, 1/4 lb of
lecithin and cinnamon.)

Store mix tightly covered in fridge. This makes 17 servings.

As needed, mix 3/4 cup of the cereal with hot water to desired
consistency; then stir in 1 TB of heavy cream and a bit of stevia.

It's very yummy; a nutty, creamy, cinnamon-y breakfast.

In the book "Natural Health and Weight Loss" by Barry Groves, he sites
a study where different types of breakfast was eaten and it's effect
on blood sugar. One of the WORST was oatmeal. Cereal (whole grain) was
also bad. They both caused a big blood sugar spike followed by a
crash.

I avoid these now since I am still trying to lose weight and I have no
plan to add them back in once I reach goal. I would rather just eat
some strawberries.
