Work up to 25 lbs so you'll be ready to carry an M60.

Officers carry pistols, Sergeant.

Sergeants have to work for a living. Who knows what officers do.

When you figure it out, perhaps you can be one too ;-)

Steve

Shucks no. I'd never be able to learn how to kiss that much ass.

My
solution was to add an additional 20 pounds by using a weight belt.

Really good idea. Unfortunately no dive shops in my area. Sigh. Time to
start surfing the web with my card again.

Could you get the same effect by using 2 or 4 bum bags (fanny packs) with
weights of some sort in them? Have them evenly spaced front & back and
either side. Might look a bit lumpy though ) (my butt looks like that
without the bum bags!)

I've seen people walking with hand weights, and I've seen ankle weights for
sale in some sports shops too.

I've read that ankle weight can place undo stress on certain leg joints when
running or jogging, so be careful with that. They are ok for walking as far
as I know. You could look into a belt similar to what scuba divers use. They
have a belt that they can add weights to depending on how deep they dive. I
know these belts can get very heavy if desired.

Yep, pretty good idea, Chris. Just one teeny-tiny nit; divers use belts
festooned with weights to achieve negative buoyancy, so that they don't have
to struggle to get "down." Then they balance that with their BC (buoyancy
compensator) to achieve their desired amount of "float". They have nothing
to do with depth of dive.

I hadn't thought of using diving weights, so this was an excellent
tip--thanks all! Since I already have some, I've been using them since it
was written up here. It's amazing how much this ups your level of effort
for a simple walk...

Yeah I knew there was something like that, but I'm not a diving expert. I
just remember seeing the stepdad's diving belt with his gear and thought
"yeah that'll work".

Well, you had a problem, saw a possible answer, applied your intelligence,
implemented a solution, and it worked! I had the gear, and wasn't clever
enough to put the pieces together...(:-)!

Very astute in any event. Thanks again for the tip....
